Having said all that let me tell you what exactly this tutorial will be on today. I will be showing all of you how to draw a Jack o Lantern. This fun pumpkin carved character is an age old classic family ritual that takes place usually 2-3 weeks before the scary day. Jack o Lanterns are nothing more than plump sized pumpkins that are carved out by hand usually using some sort of kitchen knife or even a carving tool. The faces that are created on these big balls of vegetables are limitless. Now a days you can actually purchase carving kits that come with a crap load of stencil. The typical Jack o Lantern consists of a scary or happy looking face. The eyes are triangle and the mouth has sharp pointed teeth. The best kind of pumpkin to use for carving a Jack o Lantern weighs at least 10-15 pounds and has a nice rounded body with a clean looking surface. Pumpkins are also used in lots of stories and tales as well. The Peanuts gang usually air their Halloween special called “The Great Pumpkin”. There is also another famous tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. The Horseman uses a big pumpkin for a head while he terrorizes a village in the process. Pumpkins have become a very versatile vegetable. Not only is the orange basketball a symbol of Halloween, it is also associated with Thanksgiving as well. In this tutorial I will show you how easy it is to draw a Jack o Lantern step by step. The instructions help you draw out the lines needed to create a perfect pumpkin in no time at all. I will be back with more online tutorials in a flash, so stick around and keep drawing until my return.
