This next and last lesson or the day is going to show you "how to draw Cleopatra", step by step. I know that my depiction of Cleopatra shows her having a nice lean, fit body and a beautiful face when the truth is she was considered to be a bit on the heavy side, and not all that good looking. Now her story is pretty interesting because it tells a tale of one of the first females to ever take power over a kingdom. Cleopatra VII Philopator was the last pharaoh and queen of Ancient Egypt. She belongs to the Ptolemaic dynasty which was a Greek royal family that ruled over Egypt after the death of Alexandra the Great. One of the interesting things about Cleopatra’s background was she and her family only spoke Greek language and they without a doubt refused to learn or even speak the Egyptian language. Eventually Cleopatra learned the language so she could speak to her peers, and when she did learn the language, she was absolutely certain she was a reincarnation of the Egyptian Goddess, Isis. Yes the rumors are true that Cleopatra and Caesar where lovers. At first Caesar was her liaison, but over time an attraction grew and it was mainly due to the fact that Cleopatra had such an extraordinary presence and she was also extremely charismatic. It didn’t matter that she was not beautiful, or had a masculine physic, men loved how shrewd she was and how she had such a passion and desire for Egypt. It is also said that she was a devastating politician, which back in those days was hard to grasp because she was only seventeen years old when she inherited the throne. The reason why Cleopatra wanted to get involved with Julius is because he had fury toward Ptolemy, and because she knew that she was in love at first site. Once she became Caesar’s mistress they shared a son together that she named Ptolemy Caesar, but he was given the nickname Caesarion meaning little Caesar. Once Julius Caesar was assassinated, she started getting involved with Mark Antony and Octavian. One of the things that Cleopatra loved doing was invading other parts of Rome. Having said that, she ordered Brutus and Cassius to conquer large areas to the eastern parts of the Roman Empire, and set up military bases throughout. I guess you could say that she ruled Rome to her standards, and she was one ruthless lady. Her death was a mystery to some and it is said that she killed herself by letting a deadly snake bite her. Now I don’t know if this is true or not, but it definitely sounds like something she would do. Her story is a long tale of love and hate, life and death. One thing is certain; there were only three things that Cleopatra loved Caesar, Caesarion, and Egypt. She was one of the world’s most famous queens, and under her hand she made Egypt one of the most powerful kingdoms ever. I think you will enjoy this tutorial that shows you "how to draw Cleopatra"; even if the figure isn't a bit heavy, or on the ugly side. My drawing shows how the Egyptian people viewed one of the most loved Pharaohs who ever walked the earth.

How to Draw Cleopatra

how to draw cleopatra step 1

STEP 1.

Now you can make your female figure a bit thicker if you like, or you can go ahead and just follow this lesson here. Start by making a circle for the head, and then add the guidelines for her face. Next, draw out the torso shape like so, and then add the lines for her limbs, stomach, and legs. You will need to connect the legs to a pelvic shape like you see here.

STEP 2.

Now begin sketching out the shape of her head, face and thick neck. Once that is done sketch in the shoulders and arms, and then her round breasts like so.

STEP 3.

Draw out the brows, nose and mouth like you see here, and then sketch out Cleopatra's figure. Now like I said I drew her to have a nice womanly shape, but you can go ahead and give her some chunk. Once the body is drawn out, you can move to step four.

STEP 4.

Finish drawing out the eyes, and then draw in the tattoo markings on her face. Thicken or define her lips, and then draw out the royal apron like you see here. Remember, since she was a Pharaoh, she did wear the royal apron.

STEP 5.

Begin drawing out her hair which should have a straight lined cut for her bangs, and then the length of her hair should go a little past her shoulders. Add the band around her head, and then draw out the scarf around her neck which rests on her shoulders and midway on her chest. Add the detailing lines to the sash, and then to the apron. Draw the lining for her shoes, and move to step six.

STEP 6.

Finally you will draw in the emblem on her forehead, and then add some detailing to her scarf, and undergarment like so. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up your drawing to perfection.
