Hello again everybody and welcome back to another tutorial here on DragoArt.com. I would first like to say that my weekend was so incredibly boring. I had so many plans but didn’t do anything that I had planned. I guess sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to all the time. I was supposed to go see Dark Knight with my bro over the weekend but that didn’t happen because he got sick. Then my family had plans to have a cookout since my brother was sick which made him feel all gross and ill. Well that plan was exciting because I went to the store and the whole nine with my parents to buy what we needed for the cookout. We get home and start preparing the backyard when all of a sudden from out of nowhere it just starts thundering and lightning and down pouring like you wouldn’t believe. Naturally that plan was blown and we winded up cooking food indoors which was totally bogus. After that event we sat around the table and decided to go to the beach to make up for our spoiled plans to spend the day outdoors. We were all excited to go so we got the coolers ready and all. We wake up and it is still raining and the rain stuck around until early this morning. So yeah I guess you can say that my weekend was trashed big time. Now because I was stuck in the house I needed to draw something uplifting and pretty. Yesterday was a day that I felt pretty, so because of that I decided to draw a bird that I think is probably one of the most beautiful. Today I will be showing you all "how to draw a swan", step by step. A swan reminds me of love and happiness. These beautiful birds are related to ducks and geese (as you can tell). Swans have long slender necks that seem to curve ever so gracefully and their bodies are plump and well portioned. Swans have always been eye candy for me. I used to sit at park benches where these white birds could be found and just sketched for hours while they swam in the pond not too far from my sight. I loved doing this tutorial because it reminds me of when I was a little girl and how being small is so magical. I colored the swan using shades to give it a dreamy feel. So without further ado it is time for you all to learn "how to draw a swan" too. Peace out people, see you in a bit.

How to Draw a Swan

how to draw a beautiful swan step 1

STEP 1.

Start this first step with basic guidelines and shapes to form the body and guidelines for the swan. Start with a small circle for the head and then the shape of it's beak. Next draw an egg shape for the body.

STEP 2.

Then, we shall move onto drawing the beginning head shape of this swan. Take note that the beak is very short and the ending line stops where the corner of the forehead lays.

STEP 4.

Next, let's work on the large patch for the eye marking as well as the eye. Different swans have diverse types of markings that cover their eye.

STEP 5.

Then, it's time to work on the neck. Make sure you keep a consistent width for the neck, starting in the middle. Once the neck moves onto the base of the body, make sure the neck is fatter.

STEP 6.

This is when you start working on the wing feathers that's ruffled up. I made this swan very simple looking so it's easier for you to draw. Draw the ruffles in the feathers to make the wing look as if it's resting on the swan's body.

STEP 7.

Lastly, work on the rest of the wing and then finish off with the tail feathers. The tail feathers are half hidden because of the swan's lower body in water. Make sure you draw the lower body seem as if the swan is swimming. Finish off by drawing slight and brief lines for the feathers.

STEP 8.

This is what your final sketch should come out looking like when you are done. That is it you did it! Swans come in three different colors, black, white with orange necks or just plain white with a black beak. It is your choice to color your drawing in any way you choose too. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how to draw a beautiful swan step by step. I will see you again.
