How to Draw Agumon from Digimon
Today at DragoArt.com we will be learning how to draw the popular and awesome Agumon from the Digimon animated series. This guy is a mixed breed of a Tyrannosaurus and a dragon. Ohhh Emmm Geee dragons!!!! Yeah so anyways, in Digimon: the Movie, Agumon first meets his best friends Tai and his sister Kari when he was just a baby. He first started out hatching from an egg and was called a Botamon. Tai and Kari raised the Botamon to a Koromon, and as the movie progresses, he later Digivolved into Agumon. What I find funny about the Digimon show is that the Agumon in the TV episodes stood about two feet tall. In the movie he stands seven or eight feet tall. I like the cute and small Agumon I see in the episodes. So anyways, the true meaning of Agumon’s name is “biting monster”. The suffix “mon” stands for monster from the Japanese onomatopoeia. My favorite part of this creature is when they Digivolve into bigger and even better monsters. My favorite Digimons are Greymon, Garurumon, and Pegasusmon. I’ve been watching this show recently because it’s so awesome. I only watch it because it has different varieties of monsters. I wish I had a dragon-like Digimon XD. Well all I can say is that this tutorial inspired me because of its movie that I watched yesterday. It took me two hours just to get him right. I wanted to go for his dinosaur and dragon look. So what I did was proportioned out the arms right and the snout. This tutorial was done in my awesome Adobe Photoshop CS3 program. I used my Wacom Intuos3 tablet as well. I mean I don’t draw like this on my mouse. I’ve tried drawing with a mouse before and it’s really hard *old times XD*. The coloring and shading was quiet easy but the drawing wasn’t. STEP 1.
Like any other step you will start this one by drawing the basic shapes to form a good frame to work with. Start by drawing out the shape of his head which looks like a walnut with a long line for the mouth. Next a few lines for the eyes and nostrils are next. Now you can make the shape of his small body. After that draw out the guidelines for the arms and legs.
STEP 2.
Now what you will do next is start shaping out the head as well as the mouth. Next you can start shaping and drawing out the left and right arms and hands. After that you can start detailing the body chest lines and shape out his stomach as well. Lastly, draw out the shape of the reptile legs and feet.
STEP 3.
This is where the tutorial starts getting fun. You will first need to give him a wide almond shaped eye and then draw out the bottom portion of his jaw and mouth along with the shape of his nostril. now move over to the right and start working on making his arm look more like a reptilian limb. You will want to give him a hind quarter and a tail as well as finishing off his right leg in the back.
STEP 4.
This is the last drawing step and what you will be doing is drawing out the left limb and hand. You will also shape out the top of his head a whole lot better too by giving it a rounded curve to look like a brow bone. Draw a circle for his eye and pupil and then shade the larger part in. Next give him a set of small sharp teeth and some extra meet on his foot. Next you will draw lines to make claws or nails on his feet and hands. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew ion step one that you have no use for now.
STEP 5.
Now that your finished you should end up with a drawing that looks like the one you see above. Color him in using an orange crayon, marker or pencil. Shoot use some paint if you have it I mean why not right! That does it boys and girls, ladies and gentleman. windows out of tissue paper and construction paper, but not sure if its a good idea, since i'm doing it on balance: symmetry, ymetry, radial. :o
