Hello DragoArt members and visitors! Today we’re going to do an awesome and fun tutorial on a Gothic pixie. Everyone knows that pixies are the same thing as fairies right? I haven’t drawn a pixie in a while. I think when I was like nine years old was the last time I drew a pixie. I don’t really like to categorize pixies and fairies. To me they’re all the same. I mean I think pixies might me smaller then a fairy but I don’t know. Anyways, I looked at some references online to get my pixie right. I found a lot of interesting images of pixies and fairies. Some pictures I saw were both of the fairy and pixie specie mixed together. To me I find that odd because both of these species are kinda the same. I made this tutorial out of inspiration due to the Final Fantasy games. Yesterday my brother and I got a new game system and the Final Fantasy XII game. It’s the Playstation 3 system. So me and him sat down and played Final Fantasy all night long. We had so much fun. Some of the monsters were like fairy looking things. So I came to my computer and thought to myself, what about a pixie character? Not only that, but this is my third tutorial for my little sister. So I thought hey why not draw a female gothic pixie for her but in a cute way. I wanted to draw one of them and share my work with the members and visitors I get on DragoArt. So I did and here’s the process of the coloring and shading of the being. The first attempt on coloring it was all red and some green. Now, after the image colored scheme, I though to myself, “too Christmassy”. So I started over and began to do a different color scheme. This time I did black, red, and green. I used mostly black in the image so the Christmas look would be cancelled out. So I was satisfied with the current color scheme I had. The shading came out well too. I had some flaws when shading, like screwing up on my light source. I fixed the light source problem and began to highlight. This step came out to be well done and perfect. Then after all the shading and stuff was done, I thought I was finished. But then I figured out I was missing something. I forgot to add some pixie dust. So I added dust to her dress and some floating around the glowing ball of magic held in her hand. Then I realized I was done. So I guess that’s it I mean there’s nothing else special about the image. I colored her and drew her out using my Wacom Intous3 tablet and Adobe Photoshop CS3. Now I will let you all go, I need my time to finish other tutorial =D

how to draw a gothic pixie step 1

STEP 1.

In this first step 6you will draw out the first steps of making a frame for the pixie. Start off by drawing out the shape of her head which is oval. Then sketch in some facial guidelines as well. Now draw out the outline of her body but when you do this you will only be drawing out the shape of her dress really. So after that is drawn out you can draw in the guidelines for her arms, hands, legs, and wings.

STEP 2.

In this next step what you will do is start sketching in her face and body. First start with the hair line and her hair that flows over her shoulder. Next sketch in her eyebrows, eyes, and mouth. You will now draw out the shape of her dress which resembles a bell. After that is done give her the top part of her wings, some shape to her legs and her neck.

STEP 3.

Start detailing her hair in this step as well as sketching in her eye lids and ears. Next draw her left arm and hand and then her chest and the design of her top. You will need to draw out the rest of the shape to her legs along with her shoes. the fingers on the left hand is the next thing to be sketch out. So far this is pretty easy right?

STEP 4.

Here you will be giving her a headband and a few fingers on her right hand as well as detailing her dress and giving her the bottom portion of her wings. Her eyes need some eyeballs and pupils and a nose needs to be sketched in, define her lips as well. Before you leave this step just draw out the top strap on her shoe.

STEP 5.

For this last step all you will need to do is detail the tips of her ears, and draw in the elastic band on the top of her thigh high nylons. Then you can draw the last strap on her shoe and erase all the guidelines that you drew in step one. How simple was that huh. Wow.

STEP 6.

This is what your pixie should look like when you are finally done. Color her in your own colors or keep it the way I did. Isn't she pretty. Well that finishes off this tutorial on how to draw a Gothic pixie step by step. I hope you enjoyed yourself.
