How to Draw Fred

IT'S FREDD!!”. Oh.My.God...I know, I know, “Why did you draw Fred, Dawn?”. Seriously folks, I've been getting uber tons of requests for this guy. A while ago, I was browsing YouTube and happened to watch a few videos of this character. The person is actually very annoying, but a wee bit funny xD. I think the style was a hit, therefore his popularity hit the sky. In this lesson, you'll be learning “how to draw Fred Figglehorn”. Pft, literally laughing here because of the odd last name 'Figglehorn”, it sounds so ridiculous but funny...I thought it would be nice to learn to “draw Fred”, since he has a lot of fans, mostly young kids between the ages of 8-16 maybe? My little sister hates Fred, so does everyone else in my super weird household. The very first videos of his campaign were much more enjoyable then his newest. They had some strange funniness to it. The drawing adventure of Fred was horrendous...I stooped into SO many MISTAKES! There were severe problems with drawing his face and his teeth. The teeth were absolutely annoying to get right. I used a reference picture found through “Google Images”. The reference was a very small image, therefore I had a lot of trouble trying to get a good idea of his color palette. This amateur painting took me around 4 hours to totally finished. As you can see, my hard-work sorta paid off, I think... Alright guys, it's time to hit the sheets. You can go to Fred Figglehorn's Website to get merchandise to suit your fanatical needs. I really hope this tutorial will teach you well on “how to draw Fred”, step by step. Thanks so much for viewing and good luck!

STEP 1.

Ok guys, before we begin, draw the basis for Fred's face. I would recommend to use a light blue pencil for the guides so you can erase them later on. Lightly sketch these guides to avoid permanent pencil strokes on your paper. Make sure you got the grid guides of the face semi-perfect. This step is definitely the most crucial.

STEP 2.

Next, work on the frame for Fred. This is totally recommended to get down first so you can get an advantage to draw the rest of the face pretty accurately. Draw the beginning details of his vital face elements.

STEP 3.

Then, draw box placeholders for the eyebrows, just so you don't spend too much time on them. Later on, you'll be needing to pay more attention to them. We're typically working in a steady pace drawing the bulk of the face that will turn into Fred. Finish off this step by drawing the rest of the eyes and upper lip. Don't forget to draw the shoulder frame.

STEP 4.

Next, add more definite details to his face. By drawing the mouth, you'll have more advantage to draw the rest of the mouth easier later on. Add the lids for Fred, as they play a major part in his overall complexion. Add clothes to his shoulders. See how drawing a frame helps?

STEP 5.

Lastly, draw the simplistic hair. I seemingly made the hair fluffy but also similar to the reference picture I used. Swiftly sketch the dark parts of his brows and lessen the pressure as you get to edges of the brows. This is important, you don't want to give Fred gorilla brows! Sketch in his mouth. Take note that beginning the teeth at the edges is much easier then starting from the middle. Add necessary shading to the pupils, if you leave them bare dots, he'll look like Regan from the Exorcist!!

STEP 6.

Finally, your finished piece! All your hard work should pay off. Keep encouraging yourself to practice nonstop until you get so good, that even Bob Ross can't touch you! In the end, practice is the essential building block to becoming a better artist. I really hope you've had fun with this lesson, thanks so much for viewing! Have fun with your new drawing :)
