How to Draw Gylfie
September 24th is not too far away which means the very awaited for flick “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole” is going to be here real soon, just a little over a month to be exact. If you remember, I submitted a lesson on one of the main characters named Soren. Today, I will be teaching you guys "how to draw Gylfie”, step by step. Now, because I don’t want to spoil the movie or book for those of you that haven’t read any of the novels, I’m not going to say as much as I did when I wrote out Soren. Instead, I will just tell you that Gylfie is the second main character, and she is an Elf Owl from The Band, and she is also Soren’s best friend. Instead of being born in a tree like other owls, Gylfie was born in a cactus from the Desert of Kuneer. Some other cool adventurous stuff happens with her life, but I will leave that as a mystery because if I say too much, you will not be surprise or the books and flick will hold no suspense for you. The only thing I can do with a clear conscience, is show you "how to draw Gylfie", from the book “Guardians of Ga’Hoole”. I will be back once more with some other cool tutorials for you all to learn from. Stick around and keep busy by trying out this, and other lessons that catches your eye. Peace out people!

STEP 1.
First draw a large circle shape foe Gylfie's head, and add the facial guidelines.
STEP 2.
Next, sketch out the shapes of the eyes, and the slope like style of the owl's beak like so. Notice how I also added some soft detailing lines around the eyes to make them look like they are sunken in.
STEP 3.
Now you can begin sketching out the feathery eyebrows which helps make Gylfie a really pretty looking Elf Owl. Add detailing and definition by sketching the soft feathering lines as you see here.
STEP 4.
Color in some really big, bold, and bright looking eyeballs like so leaving a small chunk white for added glare effect. Then you will continue to sketch out the feather detailing around the eye like you see here. Take your time, and be sure to use a light stroke.
STEP 5.
Now that you are on your last drawing step, all you have to do is sketch out the shape of her head, and then finish drawing out her beak the way it is here. Add some last minute detailing to the body like so, and be sure that you press down lightly with whatever drawing tool you are using to keep the feathers looking soft.
STEP 6.
Once you have erased the lines and shapes you drew in step one, you should end up with a sketch that looks just like the one you see before you now. Color her in, and enjoy your finished sketch on Gylfie from Guardians of Ga'Hoole.Post a comment
