When you pick up or buy a deck of playing cards, what is the first cards you remove from the deck? If you said the instructions, and two jokers, you are right. This tutorial is going to show you "how to draw a joker", step by step. Not to be confused with “The” Joker from Batman, just the face on the two cards of any Bicycle, or other name brand of playing cards. What does this character mean anyway, and is there a purpose for including such a card? Well, originally the face of a joker was brought into the deck around 1860. In some games a joker is used as being the highest trump. Some odd years later, the joker was simply known as a clown, or jester of the deck. There are several games that use the joker in play. For example, in the very popular game “Gin Rummy”, the joker is used as a wild card. In the card game "Poker", jokers are used as wild cards as well. In the game “War”, the joker beats any card that is laid down on the table. Then there is another deck of cards where no games are played at all. Instead fortunes are told, and this is when you have a card reading by a Madam, who uses a deck called Tarot cards. If you go to have your cards read, and one of the seven cards turned over is a joker, you have just been dealt a card known as “the Fool”. I for one have never had my fortune told by cards, or by a looking glass. I was really excited when someone asked me if I could do a lesson on "how to draw a joker", because that just adds to the pot of the previous tutorials I did in the past. I have one on a jester, a jack in the box, and some other evil looking clown that resembles a joker. If you like jokers, jesters, or clowns, you will love this tutorial because it is easy to replicate, and follow. That will do it for me for the night, I will be back tomorrow with more drawing fun. I may upload some linked lessons from Youtube because I have some ideas that I think might do well as lessons. We will just have to see how they do. If all goes well, those videos will dictate what I choose to do as a tutorial tomorrow. Peace peeps, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your drawing day!
