How to Draw Damon Salvatore
Has anybody heard of the new series on The CW called “The Vampire Diaries”? Well, my thirteen year old sister has been watching the show like an addict, and to tell you the truth, I have never watched one single episode yet. If you ask me if I plan on ever watching the series, my answer would have to be no. It's not because I don't want to, it's just that, I heard Vampire Diaries is a rip from the Twilight saga. I mean, no offense but, I just started liking Twilight once I saw New Moon, so for me to get used to another vampire based theme is going to be pretty hard. Anyways, I have received a whole bunch of requests asking that I do a lesson on one of the main characters from the show. So, here I am with this first lesson of the day that will teach you "how to draw Damon Salvatore", step by step. This sketch has actually been sitting in my folder for a week now. I didn't upload it to the site because I had to tweak it a bit. Originally I only drew his head cut off at the neck just under his chin. Once I stepped back and looked at the completed drawing, I realized that it looked like a picture of Damon with a floating head, and that looked pretty ridiculous. SO I had to fix the drawing by adding his shoulders. Damon is played by Ian Somerhalder who is mainly recognized for his time on “Lost”, and a few other movies like “Wake”. His role as Damon is making this actor well recognized with ladies of all ages. In the show he plays a vampire that is a bad boy in every single meaning of the phrase. He also has a brother named Stefan that he loves torturing by causing him grief and misery. Unlike Edward Cullen who is 109 years old, Damon is roughly 170 to 175 years old. He is originally from the town of Mystic Falls, and before he became a vampire, his father used to hunt the blood suckers for a living. The tension between Damon and his brother Stefan comes from the fact that they both have feelings for a human girl named Elena Gilbert. Of course right at the present moment Elena is involved with Stefan, but Damon has feelings for her as well. Anyway, I can't really get into all the details because I have never even watched an episode of the series. I basically got all my info from my sister who has been watching the series since it's start back in September of 2009. The Vampire Diaries is a show that is captivating many, many viewers. Maybe one day I too will see what all the fuss is about. In the mean time, have fun learning "how to draw Damon Salvatore", step by step. STEP 1.
Start this sketch of Damon by drawing a circle shape for the head, and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw a slightly arched vertical line to be used for his face, and neck. Lastly, draw the shoulders.
STEP 2.
Here you will begin sketching out the eyes, nose, and some of Damon's mouth. For a vampire, he sure looks clean cut.
STEP 3.
You will focus on the left side of his face structure by sketching out the forehead, and left side of his face like the cheeks, chin, and neck. Once that is done you can then draw the eyebrow lines, and then draw the eyeballs. Add some nostril holes, and then sketch out his mouth, and right jawline and ear.
STEP 4.
Here you will sketch out his semi-long hairstyle, and then add some shading and color like you see here. Damon is from Italian decent which means his hair needs to be dark. Once you have his hairdo sketched out, you can continue to sketch the eyes, and the back of his neck.
STEP 5.
Here you will add some sketching detailing to the eyes, eyelids, and eyebrows. But before you do that, begin erasing the lines and shapes you drew in step one. Damon has thick eyebrows so you have to make sure you get his eyes right. Add some shading on the sides of his nose, and then on his lips. The last thing you will do is add shading under the chin to add depth, definition, and detail. Lastly, sketch out his shirt.
STEP 6.
