How to Draw Dark Magician
A few weeks ago I submitted a card character from the very popular anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! The name of the character was DMG, or Dark Magician Girl. I absolutely loved the way that she came out, and because of that, I wanted to do the male version of this card. That's why I'm going to show you “how to draw Dark Magician", step by step. He is what you would call one of the main card characters throughout the series. Dark Magician is a card that belongs to Yugi Moto, it's actually his signature card if you want to get real technical about it. Even though Dark Magician looks like a human, it's still considered a monster. Yugi will often use DM when he fights, and if he happens to come across a really strong opponent, like Maximillion Pegasus, Yugi will evolve Dark Magician to become stronger. He does this by using a combination of rituals and spells. An example of a stronger version of DM, is either “The Magician of Dark Chaos”, or “Dark Magician of Chaos”. All around, Yugi's signature card is probably one of the most interesting cards of the anime and manga. The complexity level to replicate this drawing of Dark Magician, is going to be the same type of challenge you went through with DMG. I think it's possible that any artist, at any level can tackle this tutorial, all you have to do is maintain patience, be persistent, and don't give up, or don't give up so easily. I think there's eight drawing steps, and the reason why there is so many, is because of the fact that I wanted to make sure that I made the tutorial as easy as possible. I think you will do great, and if you want to start a good portion of it today, and then finish it up tomorrow that's okay too. As long as you don't give up, and keep trying to "draw Dark Magician" from Yu-Gi-Oh! I will be back real soon, and I will also be doing another live draw tonight at eight so tune in for that too. STEP 1.
Let's begin this lesson. Start with a circle for DM head, and then draw the wire lines to form the frame work you will need to draw this Yu-Gi-Oh! card character.
STEP 2.
Here you will draw out the sharp cone like shape of Dark Magician's hat, and also his collar. The lining for the hat isn't smooth at all. Instead it's sort of ribbed. The hat is also the frame around his face which means you will need to keep that in mind when tackling this step.
STEP 3.
Draw the magician's hat in more detail by adding the ribbed lines that spirals down the hat starting at the tip. Next, draw the back of the collar, and add the boarder lines as well. Once this is done you can color inside of the hood, and draw some of the shoulder pad.
STEP 4.
Draw more pieces of the leaf like collar for DM. When this is done you can then add the detailing borders, and then draw in the face like so. Once that is done, draw the beginning of his right arm. Notice that there is shoulder padding.
STEP 5.
Finish drawing out his arm, and then draw his hand like you see here. Next, sketch out his shirt which should have a loose look and texture to it. When that is done, add some wrinkling and folding lines fro detailing and definition.
STEP 6.
Before you do anything else, draw the staff that Dark Magician is sticking in your face. At the top of the staff, draw the two flaps. and then the round pearl like ball in the center. Next, draw the more of the shirts length, and then cap it off in the back.
STEP 7.
As you can see you are almost done with this lesson. It's now time to finish drawing the length of DM shirt. Notice how it has fold lines? Add detail and definition to convey the texture of his shirt. Next, begin sketching out his thighs.
STEP 8.
Finish drawing out Dark Magicians leg, and then add the detailing on the material of the pants. Do the best you can to erase the lines and shapes you drew in step one to clean up your work.
STEP 9.
Here is what your Yu-Gi-Oh card character looks like when you are done. Color him in his epic colors, and then you're done. I hope you had fun!Comments: Post Comment

I don't watch naruto so i dont know the characters, but I like the dude thats saying "I hate you all." LOL reminds me of my brother.
