How to Draw a Seahorsehow to draw a seahorse
how to draw a seahorse step 1

Step 1.

In this first simple step you will be drawing out the shape or frame of the seahorse. First, the shape you need to draw is the shape of the head which is like an egg. Next draw a larger circle shape for his upper part of the body and then a smaller shape for the lower part. Next draw out the guidelines for the snout and tail.

Step 2.

Next, in this step you will be drawing out the shape of his snout and parts of the head and neck. Starting with the snout draw sharp edged looking parts to the top. As for the neck you will first need to draw out the outline for the back of the seahorse. These lines should be small pointed wave like shapes all the way down getting smaller as you get lower. Start drawing out the plating on the begining parts of the neck.

Step 3.

Now this may take some time to complete. You will need to draw out every line on his body starting from the pointed part on his back as shown. After that sketch in some lined details on the face and draw in the eye as well. Add a simple design as I did here and draw out the belly part of you seahorse. Erase all the visible guidelines and shapes.

Step 4.

This is what your finished seahorse should look like when you are completely done. All you need to do now for a step is color him or her in and add a background. That will do it fro this tutorial on how to draw a seahorse. That was so fun and the read was entertaining as well.

Yea. Horses are great. But the main reason why i want this tutorial is because I'm writing a book about mermaids! I'll see if it gets published...

Its like a diferent world under there, its really cool to see the fish down there. I notice most people dive to have fun, or to just relax which means to get away from this world sometimes.

Have you ever wondered what exactly a seahorse is and where did they come from? Also, why do they look like a creature from a fairytale book? I often asked myself those same questions and usually got no answers until I looked up the information for myself. In this next tutorial you will be learning how to draw a seahorse. Believe it or not these fish like animals are part of the Hippocampus genus. If you all remember I submitted a tutorial on a mythical hippocampus like almost a month ago. Anyways, a seahorse is definitely a fish that belongs to a strange mysterious family called Syngnathidae, and part of this family also include fish like the Pipefish, Leafy Sea Dragon, Weedy Sea Dragon, and 30 other versions of strange and unusual fish. There is a wide variety of different types of seahorses and they can be found in many different places but they are mainly found in tropical and subtropical waters from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans. If you really want to get technical, seahorses that are from North and South American waters, can be found in four different types of species. The descriptions of the body of these fish like horse looking critters are elongate with rigid body armor and they swim upright. They also have pectoral fins on the sides and a small dorsal fin on the back. The dorsal fin on the seahorses body waves rapidly to move the seahorse through the water. They feed using small mouths at the end of tubular snouts. These fish are known to be carnivores. A rare fact about seahorses is that they are among the only animal species on Earth in which the male bears the unborn young, and they are considered to be completely monogamous animals that stay with one mate for life. How sweet is that? Now, with the male seahorse they have a brood pouch on their front facing side. When the two love horses mate, the female drops a load of her eggs into his pouch which then gets fertilized by the male from inside. He will continue to carry the fertilized eggs until they hatch and are released fully formed and developed. Neat huh, I think that is wicked cool. Another cool fact about seahorses is that when they eat, they anchor themselves to coral with their tails and consume by sucking in, 3,000 brine shrimp per day. WOW! Not only are these fish oddly shaped, but they are also amazing creatures that live in the sea. In this tutorial you will learn how to draw a seahorse step by step. There is only a total of four simple steps and the instructions make drawing this sea critter that much easier. Take a dip and draw yourself a seahorse.
