How to Draw Lief
There is a character that I noticed when I was visiting Cartoon Network's website. It was there that I seen this boys face with blonde hair. At first I only did the character a once over, but then I realized that there was something about this kids face that I liked. So, I did some research to find out who he was. Come to find out, it's a character from a very popular book series written by a talented writer named Emily Rodda. Today, I want to show you “how to draw Lief, from Deltora Quest”, step by step. I don't know how many of you are familiar with this book but, I know one thing for sure, I am definitely buying this series very soon. I was reading about the story of Deltora Quest, and it sounded so interesting. The first book came out near the same time Harry Potter was released. The story is continuously told over a numerous amount of books. The story is based on a magical land called Deltora. In the tale, they follow a boy named Lief who is determined to finish a quest or destiny, to save their homeland Deltora. Lief adventures through the different parts of the land, and he is joined with Barda, and Jasmine. Together they are on a mission to find seven different gems that belong to the Belt of Deltora. The seven gems are; ruby, topaz, lapis, diamond, amethyst, lazuli, emerald, and an opal. Once all the gems are recovered from their various hidden spots, the belt will be complete, and the evil Shadow Lord with no longer control Deltora in a tyrannical manor. There is excitement, adventure, sword fights, dragons, and other cool monsters that the young travelers undergo just to complete a mission. The books that are apart of the Delta Quest series is; The Forest of Silence, The Lake of Tears, City of the Rats, The Shifting Sands, Dread Mountain, The Maze of the Beast, The Valley of the Lost, and Return to Del. Wow, that's a collection. I think you will get a blast out of this tutorial on “how to draw Lief”, step by step. Did yo know that this very series is going to go to animation? It's true, Cartoon Network will soon be airing Delta Quest in America. If you live in Australia, then you already have the capability of watching it now. STEP 1.
You may not know of this character now, but you will in the near future. Start by drawing a head shape, and then add the facial guidelines. Once that is done, you can then draw the lining to form a stick figure frame for your character.
STEP 2.
You will now sketch out his face shape, and then begin sketching in his long bangs for his hairstyle. This is the typical style that was worn by men in the times when dragons coexisted with men.
STEP 3.
Now, you can finish sketching out his hair, and then draw his eyes, eyeballs, nose, and mouth. He should have a serious expression on his face. Next and finally, you can sketch out the shoulder, shirt material, and then the cape.
STEP 4.
Draw more of the cloaks cape as you see here and add some detailing fabric lines to make the cloak appear to be waving in the breeze. When that is done you can then draw out some of the waist, and the strap that is going across his torso.
STEP 5.
Okay, finish drawing the material and straps that is criss crossed Lief's body. Once that mess is drawn in, you can begin sketching out the left arm, glove, and sword. On the right you will draw the sword's holster like you see here.
STEP 6.
For your last step, all you need to do is draw in the legs, and then his boots. Erase the lining and shapes that you drew in step one.
STEP 7.
