How to Draw Shapes

1

You start by drawing some basic lines that will be the center of each shape you draw. The "X" is for the octagon.

2

The two lines to the left are going to be the center points for the square and rectangle. The top line should be a vertical one, and the bottom line should be a horizontal one. From these draw out the square, and rectangle.

3

Now you will draw the circle, and then the octagon. Remember the octagon has eight sides. Use the "X" as a guideline to draw this shape.

4

Lastly, draw the triangle. The top point to the triangle should start right at the tip of the vertical guideline. Once all your shapes are drawn out, erase the guidelines.

5

This is how your shapes come out looking when you are done. Pretty darn simple right. Now use what you just drew! Good job.

6

Right click the marquee icon to get the different varieties of shapes you can make selections with. Once options open up for you, select the “elliptical marquee tool” as seen in this photoshop tutorial figure.

7

Drag your cursor over the canvas to make a circle. To make a perfect circle, click and hold onto the “shift” key on your keyboard. This will make the circle and exact amount of pixels.

8

Right click on the circle selection option and click “stroke”.

9

This option is going to allow you to stroke the circle. The “location” option tells you where you want the stroke to surround. The “stroke” mode allows you to select the color and size of the stroke. “Blending” allows you to make the stro

Now just click "okay" and you should have yourself a perfect circle. I hope you liked the instruction tutorial on how to make a circle using photoshop.

Description: I hope everyone is enjoying the new and improved Dragoart.com. Pretty soon I will be updating the site with another feature, I'm actually working on that right now. But in the mean time, let me just quickly submit this lesson that is going to show you "how to draw shapes", step by step. I know what you must be thinking, “why in the world would you draw something so simple?” The answer to that question is easy, why not? Every person, place, or thing that we draw is made up shapes, we see shapes everyday of our lives no matter if we are at home, in a store, or in the car. Shapes help symbolize certain things, and more importantly, drawing shapes is the beginning to any piece of art. In this lesson you will draw five different types of shapes; a square, a triangle, rectangle, octagon, and circle. Some of these shapes have three corners, whereas others have eight. The distance of points in a circle starts from the center, and this is called a radius. A circle is a closed off shape that comes with two sections, an interior and an exterior. An octagon consists of eight sides, and all eights sides are the same length, they are also polygons. The triangle is shaped like a pyramid, and has three points, as well as three sides. This symbol is also used in mathematical equations such as geometry. Next we have the rectangle. This shape is much like a square because they both have four sides. The only difference is that length of those sides are ninety degree angles. So far we talked about the circle, octagon, triangle, and rectangle, that still leaves us with one more shape, the square. This is the most common of all shapes, and many things are structured based on the geometrical angles of the square. Windows are shaped as squares, floor plans for new houses are based on the square, and the very monitor you are looking at right now is in the shape of a square. This tutorial will show you how simple it is to draw shapes". I mean, it's not like you don't know how to draw them now anyway. I still have to upload three more lessons for you all. Remember if you would like to upload one of your favorite tutorials that you may have seen on another site, you can now submit the link to that tutorial. All you have to do is link to it from your profile page and click on “submit tutorial”. Have fun guys and be sure to check out, and use all the new features that is now at your disposal. Have fun people!
