Start out by drawing the shape of his head and then add the facial guidelines. Almost every first step starts out the same if you are going to be drawing a figure of some sorts. You will then draw another larger circle for his chest or torso, and the

2

Sketch out the shape of his face and draw in the shapes of void looking eyes. When that is done you can begin sketching out his semi long straight hair style that is swooshing in the water as hair would naturally do. Add the strand lines for texture

3

Finish sketching out his long hair, and then draw in his full long beard that covers most of hsi face. Poseidon has a very serious looking face so be sure that you convey that through your drawing technique. Next sketch in his golden crown, and then

4

Continue to sketch out his upper body making sure that he is pretty buff. The arms should look strong and well defined, and the chest should be chiselled and perfect. When you have completed this step you can proceed on to the next.

5

Almost done gang! Sketch out his hands fingers and all, and then draw in his three tipped triton. Once that is all set, you can sketch out the abs and detail his body some, and then begin sketching out his very bold looking merman tail.

6

Your last drawing step just entails finishing off the tail, and then sketching in the tail fin. Add some detailing lines on the tail body, and on the fin. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

You are now done with this drawing. I hope you loved sketching out Poseidon just as much as I did. Color him in to make him look even stronger then ever. Great work guys, and keep on practicing to become greater then what you are now.

Description: When you hear the name “Poseidon”, you automatically think of Greek god of the sea. Poseidon was son to Cronus and Rhea, and his siblings are Hades, Demeter, Hera, Hestia, and Zeus. He was said to be visually stimulating having the strong image of a god. Most images depict Poseidon as being a merman in some cases, and in other times he is a strong looking man that sits in a throne holding his trident, and wearing a simple looking crown. Looking at Greek art you will see various images of him but the most common show him riding on a chariot that is sometimes constructed to look like a big snail shell, and it is pulled by sea horses. He was also associated with dolphins, and even though he was one of the Olympian gods that lived on Mount Olympus, he spent most of his time in his coral sea. In Roman mythology, Neptune holds almost the identical stature, and even though they have two different names, the belief and tales are very similar. Many ancient Greeks believed that out of the fifteen Gods, only three ruled the world. Divided into three sections, Zeus was god and ruler of the heavens and earth, Poseidon was ruler of the water both salt and fresh water, and Hades was obviously the god of the underworld. Having said all this basic knowledge of the king of the seas, I guess you figured out that this tutorial is going to show you "how to draw Poseidon", step by step. Like I said before, there is many images of this God, I myself drew him the way I perceive him to be. He is virtually a merman to me, and his trident is a recognizable trademark that makes this ruler stand out. I do hope you enjoy this tutorial because I put some good work into him. Now I have Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon in the Greek myth section. Whenever you want to draw Greek gods, you can now pick and choose between some really cool ones. Peace out people, and remember to keep on drawing and having a fun time when doing so. No matter what you do in life, if you love it, you will enjoy what you do.
