Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot is his name, and initiating crime is his game. There is a few different variations of this character that was created by artist Bob Kane, and writer Bill Finger. DC Comics has a bunch of memorable villains and heroes, but there is one that stands out all on his own. He wears a black tuxedo, he is a short, chubby man, and he loves birds. Haven't you guessed? I'm going to show you "how to draw Penguin", step by step. The Penguin is one of DC Comics main villains as he was created in the early years. He made his debut appearance in 1941, and since then he has been a part of a few affiliations such as, Injustice League, Suicide Squad, and The Society. Unlike most of the dark characters or villains that Detective Comics has created over the years, Penguin is one of the few that is more or less sane, and completely aware of what he is doing or in other words, he is not a twisted demented character like The Joker. Instead he is what you would call an aristocrat, and a social bug. He would rather be called a gentleman of crime, instead of a crook, villain, or bad guy. He prances around in his tidy neat looking tux, as he wears a top hat and all. He's so sophisticated, he walks around with a high end umbrella, and a monocle, which is a corrective lens that is worn when only one eye has a problem with vision. These devices are usually connected to an attractive chain that can be attached to any part of the users clothing. In another version of the Penguin, he is a dark sinister, messy man that has fused fingers making them look more like fins as seen by Danny DeVito when he played Penguin in “Batman Returns”. No matter how many times his character changes one thing always remains the same, his umbrella. The Penguin uses his umbrella as a weapon. The umbrella can be fused with toxic gasses, have a built in gun, a flying device which gets him out of sticky situations, and other weapons. The character I drew is from the cartoon animation “Batman: The Animated Series”. I chose Penguin in this form because I felt it was going to be the easiest for you to draw. In all when it comes to wondering “how to draw Penguin”, you should have no problems when you follow the simple steps, and instructions with this lesson. I shall return my kiddies so stay tuned in. “Squawk, squawk”!

How to Draw Penguin

how to draw penguin step 1

STEP 1.

Since Penguin is a very round, stubby man, this character should be easy to draw. Start with a circle for the head, and then add the front line of his face. Next draw the lining for his shoulders, arms, and torso, and then add the rounder shape for his belly.

STEP 2.

You can now start sketching out his face which is a side view. Draw the monocle, and then draw the silhouette of an eye. Next draw the shape of his bird like nose, and then draw the mouth, and face structure. As you can see he has a chubby face which contains a double chin. Draw the neck, and then his shoulder and neck tie.

STEP 3.

Finish drawing out the shape of his head, and then draw in his hair line which is on top, and behind his ear. Next draw the perfect looking top hat, and then start sketching out the shape of his tuxedo jacket including the arms. Add the cuffs, and then move to the next step.

STEP 4.

You can now draw the bottom of his vest the he wears under the tux, and then draw in his gloved hands. One hand is on his hip, and one hand is holding the handle of his umbrella. Draw the umbrella completely and then move to the next step.

STEP 5.

This is now your last drawing step. All you need to do now is draw out his pants and or legs, and then draw in his pointed style shoes. Now that you are done, you can start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

STEP 6.

You just drew Penguin from Batman, and if you took your time, and followed the steps, your drawing should look like the one you see here. Coloring in the Penguin is fun too because all you need is a black and gold crayon. The gold one is for his monocle.
