Out of all the mythical beasts that I have uploaded, did you know that I don't even have a tutorial that teaches you “how to draw a faun”? That is unbelievable! I am a big buff when it comes to creatures or beings of myth, which is why I am so shocked to see that I never drew at least one faun. Fauns are great creatures because they are half goat, and half human. One famous faun is the animated character from Disney's movie “Hercules”. His name was Philoctetes or Phil for short. His voice actor was Danny DeVito, and he did an awesome job indeed. The faun comes from Roman Mythology and it is believed that they are spirits of untamed forests. Romans based their beliefs of fauns with the Greek mythical creatures the “satyrs”. Although these two separate beasts had similarities like having goat like lower bodies, and human looking tops, they differed because fauns had goat feet, whereas satyrs had human feet. The faun I drew looks much like one of the creatures described in myth, and as in myth he is playing a flute. Describing these deities is easy, they where sometimes small to medium in size, had small horns on top of their heads, bottom bodies and hooves like a goat, and short stubby tails. Male fauns had muscular upper bodies, and had medium strength. No matter how you look at one of these creatures, it is still very interesting when it comes to learning “how to draw a faun”. That will do it for me tonight everyone, I will be back tomorrow with more drawing fun. In the mean time, have fun, and I hope your night continues to be a creative one.
