Animal prints is not only markings you will find on animals, nowadays you can find all sorts of patterns ranging from leopard designs, tiger stripes, and the more popular, zebra stripes. These patterns are used on clothing, jewelry, bedding, and accessories such as pocket books and wallets. This lesson is going to show you "how to draw zebra stripes, step by step”. But before I let you move on to the tutorial itself, let me just talk a bit about the zebra and their mysterious markings. For one, it was once believed that these animals where born all white, and had the black stripe pattern. This study was talked about when researchers came up with the theory based on the fact that zebras have white colored underbellies. After extensive research it was determined that the animals base color was dark, and the white stripes laid on top of their hides. What is certain however is that, not one zebra displays the same markings. All are born with their own unique pattern making every zebra different in their own way. Did you know that the stripes on these animals help zebras to recognize each other? It's true, because zebra have different stripes for each individual, they can tell each other apart because of this. The ones that are held captive in zoo's are also separated by their lining patterns. Drawing zebra stripes is a relatively easy concept because all you are initially doing is sketching out a striped pattern, and then filling it in with black ink, paint, or colored pencils. I have to go for now because there is still many lessons to upload. Have fun with this pattern based tutorial, and be sure to come back later to see what's new at Dragoart.com.
