Description: They live to be over one hundred fifty years old, and are considered to be one of the oldest living reptiles in existence. Of course I could only be talking about one animal, and this happens to be the animal that you will be getting a lesson on today. I will teach you "how to draw a tortoise, step by step”. This amazing species of turtle are incredibly big, and believe it or not, docile. There is three different types of turtle. First you have the ocean dwelling type that are refereed to as sea turtles, then there is just the regular turtle and these types live in fresh water. But when we want to talk about or refer to the reptile that walks and lives on land, that is when you mention the name “tortoise”. The tortoise is an herbivore, which means they eat lettuce, leaves, some vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and celery. They even eat grass, weeds, flowers, and some sweet fruits like pineapples and apples. Some species of tortoises also eat worms, and or insects, but because too much protein can be hazardous to these slow moving reptiles, they just mainly stick to their leafy greens and such. Remember when I said that the tortoise is one of the oldest living animals in existence? Well to be exact, the oldest living tortoise was named “Tu'i Malila”. It died on May 19, 1965, it was one hundred eighty eight years old. The only other known longest living vertebrate was a koi fish named “Hanako” and it lived to be two hundred twenty six years old, pretty amazing huh? I think that my depiction of this land turtle came out cool looking and it also conveys how large it really is. The size of the shell says it all. Well I have some other lessons to get up so let me leave you to this tutorial on “how to draw a tortoise, step by step”. Take your time with this drawing, and most importantly, have fun with it. Peace out people, and happy drawing!
