How to Draw a Tribal Lion

It's been so long since I drew and submitted a tribal tattoo design which is why I wanted to do another. This next tutorial that I am about to submit was drawn while I was live two days ago. I think it came out clean and awesome enough for anyone to have it placed on their bodies as a nice tattoo. If you have a tattoo fetish, or you just plain love tattoo art, you will love learning “how to draw a tribal lion”, step by step. Instead of making the tribal lion look too complex to draw or replicate, I drew out the sketch in a simple format, making it easy for all you novice artist out there that love drawing tribal. There is some different possibilities that you can choose to change when drawing the tribal lion. For one, you can choose to use a different color of ink that you normally use to color in your typically black tattoo design. Secondly, you can switch up the design by leaving the ink black, but instead of leaving the white areas, you can use a pastel color like a baby blue, or pink, or you can choose to use a fiery red color. The possibilities are endless when it comes to drawing tribal designs. All I know is, I have a lot of fun drawing tribal art. I think you guys will find that this tutorial will be easy to follow, and simple to replicate. I need to bounce on out of here because I have like eight more lessons going up today. Have fun learning “how to draw a tribal lion, step by step”. Peace out people, and happy 2010!

how to draw a tribal lion step 1

STEP 1.

As you can tell from the beginning step, drawing a tribal lion is going to be easy. Start with a circle for the head shape, and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw a crescent like shape for the tribal lions mane.

STEP 2.

Now you will start drawing the roaring mouth shape for the tribal beast. Now because this design is being drawn from the side, it should be pretty easy to do. Don't forget to draw the pointed fangs, and then the beard like shape of the mane. Lastly, add the beginning lines for the nose.

STEP 3.

You will finish drawing the bridge of the tribal lions snout as you see here. Notice how I left notches on the nose bridge, that is to emphasize the lions wrinkle when they roar. Follow that same lining to form or sketch out the outlined shape of the mane as you see here.

STEP 4.

Draw the shape of the lions eye, and then start adding your tribal art designs. You can be as creative as you like when it comes to drawing tribal lines. I chose to use this technique that you see here. When you are done, you can move to step five, which also happens to be the last step.

STEP 5.

All you have to do here is draw the shapes of the ears, and then finish adding some more tribal art lines. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one and move to the finished line art step.

STEP 6.

And this is what your finished drawing on "how to draw a tribal lion" should look like when you are done. You can choose to color it in or leave it black and white. Hope you had fun!
