I am about to submit my second animal tutorial for the day and I don't believe I have a realistic version of this water dweller. There are all types of animals that live or dwell in in the earths waters. Some of these animals are known as alligators, crocodiles, beavers, water rats, and otters. I want to show you "how to draw a otter" because of the incredibly annoying commercial that I am always seeing on TV. The only reason why it is tolerable to watch is because the star of the commercial is the river otter that is eating a claim. That is the otter that I am basing my drawing on. The river otter is a North American species which can be found throughout Canada, and the United States. These robust looking animals are in the family of “Carnivora”. In this class you will find animals like the otter, wolverine, minks, badgers, weasels, stoats, and other animals that look like ferrets. As for the otter, these mammals live in borrows that reside under logs, on river banks and even in the water with tunnels made from moss, bark, and hair. The otter will always live near constant food supply which is almost always near the water. Otters can live in fresh water, salt water, marshes, swamps, and other wetland environments. These mammals also start breeding during the winter months when both males and females come together. A female otter will carry her young inside of her womb for about two months, but there have been cases that they will remain pregnant for almost a year. Once baby otters reach the age of six months old, they will leave their mothers den to be on their own. You may actually think that these animals are not at all interesting but they in fact are. I think you will like this cute tutorial that will show you “how to draw a otter, step by step”. I will be back tomorrow with more drawing fun so be sure you come back and see what tomorrow will bring. Peace out people, and happy drawing!

How to Draw a Otter

how to draw a otter
how to draw a otter step 1

STEP 1.

To start this tutorial to draw a otter, you will start with a circle for the head and then add the facial guidelines. Next attach the neck to the body which is another circle. The back end of the otter's body is yet another circle. Once that body parts are drawn out you can add the tail line and then the short stubby legs.

STEP 2.

Start sketching in the otter's face starting with the mouth, nose, and the many whiskers that these mammals have on their jowls. Next draw the top of the otters head and then the ears.

STEP 3.

Sketch in the otter's eyes and then draw the eyebrows. Color in the pupils and then start sketching out the shape, or lining for the back, and chest. Next sketch out the starky front legs and paws and then make sure that the texture of the skin looks a bit hairy.

STEP 4.

Draw the underline for the belly and then start sketching out the shape of the hind leg, and the foot. Next draw the arched back line and then some of the otter's tail.

STEP 5.

This is your last drawing step and all you have to do is draw out the thick shape of the otters tail as you see it here. Erase the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.
