How To Draw Mushu From Mulan
This tutorial is on a funny character from the Walt Disney animated movie, Mulan. Mushu is his name and being a guardian is his game. He is a small, sleek, wimpy looking dragon that is just dying to be an ancient guardian once more, unfortunately though the elders are not so sure of handing him that type of responsibility again. Mushu then takes matters into his own hands, the elders send Mushu to wake up and summon the Great Stone Dragon. After banging the gong several times he gets frustrated and starts whacking it with his gong which leads to breaking the head clean off the statue. The elders keep calling for the Great stone dragon, Mushu picks up the heavy oversized head and starts responding to the elders. They ask him to go out and protect Mulan from disaster and possible death as she is forced by her own hand to go to war and fight in place of her father who is old and barley walking. So Mushu takes off and follows Mulan on her journey without her knowing at first. He then reveals himself to her and explains that the ancestors sent him to protect and guide her through her trying times. She then states “My ancestors sent me a lizard to help me?” Feeling offended by the harsh comment he sets her straight and lets her know that he is not a lizard and says “I don’t do that tongue thing”. I like this character very much, one reason is because Eddie Murphy does the voice character for Mushu, and second he is a very spunky dragon. He may be pint size but his heart is as big as they come. This tutorial will show you just how easy it is to draw Mushu step by step. I had a ton of fun drawing him out and I know you will too.

STEP 1.
Lets start this first step by drawing out the guidelines and circle shapes associated with drawing the lovable character Mushu. Starting at the head draw a small circle for the part of the head where the eyes are gonna go. Next draw the long rounded snout and the lining for his smile. After you get the shapes drawn start drawing the lining as shown above.
STEP 2.
Now here in step 2, you will be drawing and sketching out the outer part of Mushu's body. This is so very simple to do because all you need to do is draw curvy lines starting at the back of the head and down through the tail. Draw an ear that looks like half of a banana, and the lining in his upper hand that is open reaching for the sky.
STEP 3.
This is a simple step too. This is also the last step to drawing Mushu. Starting at the face like always, start drawing out his big round eyes and put a simple dot in the middle. Next draw the bottom line for the jaw to give the appearance of being open. Now draw the nostrils on the nose, and the few pieces of hair that are spiky looking ontop of his head. Next draw the lining for the inside of the ear and draw out his long thin whiskers. The last thing to do is Draw out the hair down his back, the snake like lines that go down his belly, and the nails and claws on both the hands and feet. Erase all the guidelines and circle shapes.
STEP 4.
And this is what your finished drawing of Mushu should look like when you are completely done. See now wasn't that super duper easy! All that is left to do is color him in and give him a home. That concludes this tutorial on how to draw Mushu from Mulan.Post a comment
