I will end the drawing day with one last lesson on another bird. The robin is one of those birds that carry a reputation for being early birds. This tutorial is going to show you “how to draw a robin step by step”. The robin is one of the most common birds that bird watchers love studying. The bird that I am drawing is the American robin. These birds can be found all across the continent either sitting, walking, digging, or singing, on the lawns, treetops, fields, parks, golf course, and even mountains of any city or state. The robin is also a bird that doesn’t fly aways for the winter. Instead, these birds spend the entire winter in their homemade nests. They can lay up to three sets of eggs a year. Unfortunately, only forty percent of their eggs actually hatch into baby robins. On top of that, only twenty five percent of that forty percent, make it through the winter. The average lifespan of a robin is about fourteen years which is pretty cool if they don’t get killed accidentally or purposely. Other than worms, the robin bird has a diet that consists of fruit during the fall and winter months which includes a variety of edible berries. Remember when I said that the robin sits in it’s nest through the winter months? Well during the colds days of winter, they move up into the moist part of the woods where there is plenty of trees and shrubbery, as well as berries. The color of a robin is pretty. They have grayish brown colored feathers from head to back, and they have a warm orange colored chest from neck to thigh. I think you guys will enjoy this lesson that shows you “how to draw a robin”. That is all I have for you guys today, I will be back another day with more drawing fun. Peace out people and have an awesome drawing day.

How to Draw a Robin

how to draw a robin step 1

STEP 1.

Start this tutorial step by drawing a circle for the robins head shape. You will then add the guidelines for the face and beak. Next draw a neck line and attach it to another circle shape which will later be for the chest and or torso of the robin. You will then draw an anchored shape for the back end of the bird and then add the limb lines and tail line. Don't forget that branch line as well.

STEP 2.

Sketch out the entire shape of the head and beak as you see here. Be sure to add some definition and detail to the bill. When you are done with that you can then draw out the small circular shaped eye and color in the pupil. Add some detailing under the beak.

STEP 3.

Now you can start sketching the shape and style of the robin's wing. Be sure to draw each wing feather the way you see it done here. Once that wing is sketched out you can then draw the feathery marking ring line around the bird's neck.

STEP 4.

Next, start sketching the rest of the chest and belly, and then work that same lining into the robin's thighs and back end. Sketch out the shape and style of the feathered tail and then begin drawing out the two bird legs.

STEP 5.

Well, you have finally made it to your last drawing step. All you need to do now is draw out the tree branch and be sure to add some detailing and definition. Once that is done draw the robin's feet which are clutched around the branch. Erase the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

STEP 6.

Once you have cleaned up your sketch lines, your finished drawing should come out looking like the one you see here. You have just learned "how to draw a robin step by step". Color the bird in and you are all done.
