G.I. Joe was an awesome cartoon series but unfortunately I didn’t watch it because I wasn’t around during the eighties. My father said that G.I. Joe was one of his favorite cartoons and he named like almost all the characters he used to like. With this next tutorial I will be showing you “how to draw Duke from G.I. Joe” step by step. Duke is probably one of the more popular characters in the two series that he is in. Duke is seen in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, and G.I. Joe: Sigma 6. In order to sketch out the cartoon version of Duke, I had to reference a few pictures online to get an idea of what he looked like. In the new movie “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Duke is played by Channing Tatum who is a sufficient actor to play Duke I think. Although I am not too familiar with the character, before I attempt to draw whoever it is I am making a tutorial out of, I watch a few episodes on Youtube to give me an idea on the characters personality, skills, and whatever else information I can use while I write out my descriptions. Of course as you know “Duke” is not this soldiers real name. The name he goes by is just a code name used by Conrad S. Hauser who is a First Sergeant for the G.I. Joe Team. The reason why I said that Duke was a more popular character, is because over the years he is seen that way. Most people and or fans of G.I. Joe see Duke as the main character of the story. Conrad Hauser comes from a place called St. Louis, Missouri and was introduced to the G.I. Joe toy line in 1983. He did not however appear in a good number of comic book series even though he is such a favorite by choldren and adults. Other than being a First Sergeant, he is also a field commander, and second in command after his buddy Hawk. Duke is also very fluent in several languages like French, German, and a few Asian languages as well. He uses all these resources that he gains to aid him when he and his team are on missions. Duke is also a firm believer in never leaving his men, and feels that a commander belongs with his team and not anywhere else. He is a very devoted soldier and will do everything in his power to get the assigned missions done. I think you guys will like this lesson on “how to draw Duke from G.I. Joe step by step”. He is really easy to draw because he is in cartoon format. I have to leave because there is a lot more tutorials that will be coming your way. Adios amigos and happy drawing!
