I was looking out my window at the hill across the bay, which has been known for a long, long time as looking like a dragon, and I thought, hey, I could draw that. So I drew it, and I liked it so much I just had to put it up here to share with all of you guys. Just thought I'd warn you, I tryed using a drawing program on my computer, Corel Photo House 2, for this tut, but it didn't quite turn out like it did on paper. So don't put too much weight on the pictures.

How to Draw a Sleeping Dragon

how to draw a sleeping dragon step 1

STEP 1.

So here we have our first step. Draw a straight line for the ground (Or water. The hill I got inspiration from looks like it's asleep on top of the water, so that's how I drew him.) and four circles: two for his yoshi-like face, one for his shoulder, and one for his rump. Tip: do steps 1-3 in pencil (If you're using paper, that is)

STEP 2.

Now, line out his shape using one continuous line: start at the base of the nose and draw around it, then up over his forehead, down his neck, back, and tail. Also draw two more little circles for where his flippers join on.

STEP 3.

Next draw his flippers: curved lines beginning at the circles you drew; and add in detail: his eyelids (How about drawing on eyelashes to make it a she?), nostril, mouth, and flipper-toe lines.

STEP 4.

Now, if you're using pencil & paper, go over the lines you want to keep in pen, shown here in red. For everyone, this is also time to go back and make a few revisions.

STEP 5.

Erase all of the stuff that was blue in the last step (Pencil lines) and have fun colouring!
