To start this tutorial on how to draw a cartoon butterfly, you will need to do a few things. First draw a circle for the head and then add a vertical line to it. Next draw the shapes of big butterfly wings as you see it done here.

2

Once step one is completed, you will draw two eyes and color them in a bit. Next draw the antennas and then draw the tips of the butterfly wings as you see here. You can create your own style wings if you like that is totally up to you. Before you go

3

All you have to do here is first draw out the tear drop shaped body and then finish sketching out the style of wings you want. When that is done you can sketch in cute bold looking eyebrows too.

4

Draw striped lines on the butterfly's body and then start detailing the wings starting with the bottom two. Next draw a total of six legs.

5

Detail the wings on top and then move to the next step. So far you are doing great!

6

For your last drawing step all you have to do is first erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one. When you have done that you can move on to adding the finishing designs on the edges of the wings.

7

Here is what your finished line art should look like when you are done. Color in your drawing and you have finished this tutorial on "how to draw a cartoon butterfly step by step".

Description: Fluttering butterflies are so beautiful to watch because they always look like they are dancing in air. I absolutely love butterflies and because of that I wanted to do a tutorial on “how to draw a cartoon butterfly” step by step. I also received a few request to do a lesson on a cartoon style butterfly as well, but I never got around to fulfill the request until now. I drew a very simple, colorful, and beautiful insect that will be well liked all over the DragoArt website. Well, at least I hope it will…XD. Anyways, this tutorial is going to be very easy to complete because there is really nothing to it. As I said before, once you get used to drawing cartoon characters and or animals, starting the process is simple. All you have to do is read the instructions, put your hand and pencil to the paper, and draw. I think you will have a blast with this one, teaching yourself "how to draw a cartoon butterfly" will enable you to draw better, brighter, bugs in the future. I had a lot of fun sketching out this cartoon insect, I mean I always have a blast whenever I draw butterflies, or anything else pretty. I have to go but as you know I shall return. Have fun guys with this lesson and be sure to keep a lookout for more to come. Peace out and happy drawing.
