This step is very simple. What you are going to do here is draw several lines to help keep the structure of the riffle in straight lines and line together perfectly. There are a total of 9 lines, and they differ in size. Look at the step as a guide t

In this step you will start to sketch out the M16s frame. Starting at the tip and using the lines as your guide draw the nose, bullet barrel, and scope casing. These are all being drawn on the top of the sketch. Now what I want you to do next is star

Now in this step you can already see what your sketch should look like when you are done. By now it resembles the M16. So here what you will do is draw the rest of the top of the weapon by filling in the bottom part of the barrel and detailing the sp

Description: This tutorial is going to show you how to draw the United States Military assault rifle, the M16; this rifle is almost similar to the Russian AK-47. The M16 was designed to be a lightweight piece of machinery; it has 5.56 mm caliber, air cooled, gas operated, and magazine fed riffle that also has a gas operated rotating bolt. The body structure is made out of steel, aluminum, and composite plastics making the total body weight of 8 ½ pounds. The total length of this unit is almost at 40 inches with the barrel being a solid 20 inches. The M16s fire ratio is between 800-900 rounds per minute depending on the model, and the effective range is at 600 yards. The M16 comes in several different types of models, first you have of course the M16, then there is the M16A1, M16A2, M16A3, and the M16A4, and every single one of them has been the main weapon of choice for the U.S military since the 1960s. This weapon was introduced to the U.S Air Force in 1964, than in 1965 the U.S Army was issued the XM16E1 to better arm the solders that were going off to Vietnam. Around the same year the Marines where given the same weapon but eventually in 1967 the XM16E1 was standardized as the M16A1. The whole purpose on developing this weapon was to replace the M14 that was used in WWII. The United States wanted to develop a weapon for the men that were going to the Vietnam War; they knew that the M14 wasn’t a sufficient piece of hardware to equip their soldiers with. Colt along with Fabrique Nationale de Herstal is the two companies that manufacture this weapon. The M16 in this tutorial is the A4 model, and it’s equipped with the M203 40 mm grenade launcher. I though it would be cool to show a powerful piece of hardware fully equipped. I get a magazine called “Guns and Ammo” and this was one of the images I used to sketch my drawing from. In this tutorial I will show you "how to draw the M16", step by step with only 5 steps. I say this in all my tutorials, the instructions are easy to read which makes drawing this rifle online a breeze. Happy sketching.
