Here is a cool lesson on an unexpected insect that we all see everyday of the spring and summer. I will show you “how to draw an ant” step by step. How odd is a tutorial on an ant huh? I mean the reason why I chose to do this drawing is because when I was sitting outside sketching, an ant was crawling up my leg and it was a really big one. Ants can be very annoying especially when they are pest in your house. Buying ant traps and sprays is a common thing that is purchased during the late spring and summer months. Have you ever wondered why the ant surrounds sweetening things like candy, fruits and so forth? Well the fact is, ants love sugar because it gives them a required energy that is needed in order to fulfill the daily requirements of their activities. They also have other needs as well and sugar substances is not the only thing they eat. Ants also feed on honeydew, dead insects, tree sap, grass seed, and other odds and ends like the crumbs from food. When you see ants carry food on their backs, they are usually bringing them back to their colonies. When they are sucking up sugar from old melted candies or other sweetening substances, they suck it up and store it in what you call a “crop” that is in their abdomens. They carry the fluids back to the nest and feed other ants by transferring the sugar through the insects mouths. The ant is considered to be a social insect and they where evolved from wasp like insects during the mid-cretaceous period. There are over twelve thousand specie of ant in existence today and they are all very much alike in appearance. An interesting thing about ants is that they can be found anywhere in the world, anywhere but Antarctica that is. Because the weather is so incredibly cold and there is almost no foliage whatsoever because it is considered to be the driest, coldest and windiest part of the whole continent. There is four major parts to the ants body; the head, alitrunk, petiole, and gaster. Worker ants are the ones that build the mounds you see scattered on your lawn or bald dirt pile, and they are also the ones that fetch food and supplies. If you think about it, ants are very much like your typical working American and they are very interesting as well. The tutorial that you will be learning from will show you “how to draw an ant step by step“. I will be back later with more lessons that I drew yesterday while I was live, in the mean time have fun with this tutorial. Peace out and happy drawing.
