You will now start sketching out the shape of Franklin's face and then use the facial guidelines to draw the top eye lines. Next sketch out some of his hair on the right and then some of his wrinkled neck and shirt collar.

Description: Another tutorial on a very famous person that changed our history, and who invented somethings that we all use today. I like reading about important people and I thought I would do a tutorial on “how to draw Benjamin Franklin", step by step. Who is Ben Franklin? Well I know you guys know who this man is. He is the one that went outside with a kite that had a key attached to it, or so they say. When I was a kid, I heard that very same story on how a man named Benjamin Franklin did such a thing. He was born in Boston Massachusetts in the year of 1706. He grew up in a political world even though he had to leave school when he was only ten years old. The reason why he left school was because he had to work with his dad in the family’s candle shop. By the time he was twelve he started working with his brother James who was a printer for the Boston newspaper. Benjamin Franklin had various hobbies, and one of them was reading. He used to read like there was no tomorrow and soon he started submitting articles for his brothers newspaper. When his brother went to jail for a political offense, he managed the paper until his return. Relations with the family started eroding and because of that he ran away from home at the age of seventeen and ended up in Philadelphia. Although he was young and very poor, Franklin's tables took a turn for the better when he got a job as a printer. Soon after, he secured his future when he bought a print shop called “ The Pennsylvania Gazette”. His accomplishments are many and one of them happened to be a Postmaster General which was appointed to him after he went before the lobby of the British to take over as Postmaster after the health of Postmaster General Elliot Benger deteriorated. He was appointed the position, and shared it with William Hunter. After that Franklin eventually developed an accounting system which enabled mail to be sent by night and day which is what we know as today as overnight delivery. Some time later he returned to America and in 1775 he was part of the Second Continental Congress and it was there where he served on a committee to establish an independent postal system. In the summer of 1775 Congress made Ben Franklin the first Postmaster General of what we know as the United States Postal Service. What is really impressive is, a year later in 1776, he was on the committee that worked to create the Declaration of Independence which makes him one of our founding fathers of a new nation. He later left for Paris where he secured a treaty with France in 1778. He was able to do this because he was seen as the most highly respected American back in the day. Because of the treaty, it lead to the succession of the American Revolution. After the war, he later helped to secure a peace treaty with Great Britain and that treaty was signed on September 3, 1783. It wasn’t until 1785 that he returned to Philadelphia. Once home he later went to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and he lived to see the adoption of the Constitution of the United States in May 1789. On April 17, 1790, Benjamin Franklin passed away and left an incredible stain that will always be quoted, noted, marked, spoke about, and learned about for all time. His scientific contributions included the study of electricity and lighting, the measurement of the Gulf Stream, and his theories of heat absorption. For his own inventions, he was the inventor of the lighting rod, bifocals, and the very first wood burning stove called the Franklin Stove. He was truly one of the greatest men that ever lived, and to dedicate his existence, Benjamin Franklin was chosen to be on the very first postal stamp along with George Washington that was issued on July 1,1847. In total he fathered twelve children to carry on his name. This tutorial will show you how to draw Benjamin Franklin step by step. I did the best that I could with the picture I had of him. I hope you guys enjoyed this descriptive introduction on Ben Franklin. Peace out and happy drawing.
