Drawing Medusas Head, Step by Step

1

Begin with the head guide and shoulder guidelines. You will then sketch in the facial guidelines as well.

2

Start defining the shape of Medusa's nicely chiseled face structure like so, then proceed to step three.

3

Use the facial guidelines to draw out the mean expressive brow lines like so, then draw in the shapes of her reptilian eyes. Add the slit style pupils and then draw in the small nose. Before leaving this step add the scale lines along the brows.

4

We will now draw out her mouth and lips. As you can see it's wide open as she is screaming.

5

Draw the teeth and color in the hollow of her mouth. Don't forget to draw the tongue as well.

6

Now we can get started with drawing the shape of her neck and shoulders. When that is done start drawing her hair which is in the form of slithering snakes as they are clustered together.

7

Finish drawing in all the snakes. As you can see some are hidden and some have heads. Add the eyes, tongues and faces to each snake and add a bit more detailing to Medusa's neck. Erase the guides and the mistakes too.

8

Here is the line art. Now you can color in Medusa's head to perfection.

Description: I told you I have been into the whole Greek mythology thing lately. For my next lesson I wanted to create something awesome and full of energy. We will now tackle the task of drawing Medusa's head, step by step. I love the old version of Clash of the Titans, but I sort of like the newer Medusa better than the one in the original film. I combined the color of the original Medusa as well as the expression with the look and style of the newer Medusa seen in the 2010 film. I never did a lesson on Medusa's head, so when this one was finished it looked so awesome. When you finish this task, there will be more tuts to tackle.
