How to Draw an Akita

1

Okay are you ready or what? Start with four circles, one for the head, one for the chest, one for the butt and another for his/her tail. Draw the facial guidelines and then connect the shapes to a neck and leg lines.

2

Draw the ears and then use the facial guidelines to draw the eye shapes and then the shape of the snout.

3

As you can see you will start sketching out the face of the Akita like the eyebrows, nose, mouth and tongue. Once that is complete you will start sketching in the fluffy hair lines and then start sketching out the back of the head and neck.

4

You will now sketch out the chest and then add the fur detailing as well. Draw out the lining for the front legs and lower portion of of the chest.

5

Finish the shaping of the legs and then the paws. Draw the Akita's belly and then his hind leg. Sketch in the fur detailing on the dogs body as you see here and then move to the next step.

6

You have reached step four and as you can see you have come a long way. I want you to sketch out the curl of the puffy tail and then continue to draw out the hind legs and all the paws. Sketch the fur markings on his body and then move to the next st

7

This is your last drawing step and all you have to do now is sketch out the tail and the rest of the hind legs. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one and see what your line art should look like.

Here is what your Akita should look like when you are done. Choose a color and shade in your Japanese dog. I hope you liked this lesson on "how to draw an Akita dog step by step"

Description: It is now time to do a lesson on yet another domesticated animal called a dog. The dog that I will be teaching you today is the Japanese native Akita. Learning “how to draw an Akita” is going to be fun and exciting. The Akita is a dog that is highly intelligent, strong, bold and loyal. Akita’s have double coated hair and because of that they are considered to be waterproof. Their feet or paws are like a cat and they are also webbed making them excellent swimmers. This Japanese breed has been unchanged for centuries making the Akita an original looking and well bred dog. Owning an Akita is definitely a challenge because one has to have a firm hand with the dog. Akita’s definitely need to have a dominate leader because if they do not then you will have some serious leadership problems. You must let them know who is boss and if you have a family you have to train each family member to keep dominance over the dog. Poor training and human contact will lead an Akita to nip or even bite children and other family members. I know that this news might came as a bad surprise to you, but there is good news as well. If you have the patience and time to train an Akita the rewards are grand. You will have yourself a faithful, loyal, and protective dog to watch over your family. In Japan Akita’s were first used as imperial guard dogs, then their positions moved to hunters of bears and boars, and then they were used for water rescue and hunting missions. Akita’s are the largest of the Spitz type breed measuring at twenty five to twenty eight inches for males and also weighing between eighty five to one hundred thirty pounds. Now that is a hearty dog. The colors for the Akita come in pure white, red, sesame, and a combination of brindle. Me personally I think that Akita’s look like miniature bears full of hair. This lesson will show you an easy and fun way to learn “how to draw an Akita”, step by step. I didn’t draw this breed to look realistic, instead I decided to make it look more cartoony. I hope you enjoy this tutorial, I really did have fun drawing it out.
