Insects are sometimes disgusting critters that annoy me to no end like the mosquito. Another insect that is annoying is the grasshopper. But there is one insect that should be annoying but isn't and I think it's because it was one of the main characters in Disney's “Pinocchio”. Ever since that movie, I have been a huge fan of the cricket. The lesson I will be teaching you today is going to be on “how to draw a cricket", step by step. Crickets are interesting but not too interesting. And what I mean by that is, they are only cool because they can create a different song everyday. There is like three types of crickets that I know of and they are very common. The first one is what you will be learning how to draw today, a house cricket. These ones are a yellowish brown and they are about ½ inch in length. The other type of cricket is a field cricket and they are black in color and can be as long as 1 ¼ inches in length and they are much stronger than the house bug. The problem with the field cricket is that, they can destroy or badly damage crops of wheat, oats, rye, and alfalfa. Lastly there is the camel or cave cricket and they are about ¾ inches long and stay in cool damp places. These odd looking insects are tan in color and are considered to be hump-backed. The noise that these bugs make is called “chirping”. When a cricket chirps they lift their forewing at a 45 degree angle and rub it up against the upper hind edge of the right forewing. With this technique they make two different songs; a calling song and a courting song. One is to attract females and the other is to repeal males. The sketch was pretty simple and I finished it in like two hours maybe two and a half including coloring, and making a tutorial on “how to draw a cricket”. Some may like this lesson, and some may not. I say love it because it's art. Hey, that rhymed. Anyway I have to go because I am working hard to keep DragoArt up to par. I will try and talk to you all soon, until then peace out!

A cricket has a total of six legs, but in this drawing we only see five. Finish the lining for the crickets body and then draw out and color in the eyeball. You will sketch out the rest of the crickets legs and then you can move to the next step.
