How to Draw the Cloverfield Monster

1

Let's start by drawing the guide shapes and lines for the frame work of the Cloverfield monster. Make the head, torso and waist area using round shapes. When that is done draw in the limb guidelines.

2

Now we will begin sketching out the structure for the monster's head. It is sort of round but with a deformed club like shape. Add some layers to the base of the neck and some crease or fold lines to the back of the neck.

3

Here we will sketch out the eye and color it in. When that is done you can draw in the angled like mouth shape. The monster's mouth is closed, but there are teeth clearly present. It's almost like a scissor bite. Add definition under the mouth and on

All you have to do here is draw in the pod like shape on the side of the Cloverfield's monsters face/neck. They are actually membranous sacks that inflate and recede back at will. Sketch out this sack, then add some detailing and definition to the ba

5

You will now draw the protruding shape of the monster's chest like so. Then draw in the beginning parts of the left or right arm. The arm should have some definition or toning to it. Add a split down the chest like you see here, then you can move alo

6

We will carefully sketch out the shape of the CLoverfield monster's back and hip area. The lower area of the monster looks like a mangled mass of tissue. This creature lived deep in the Atlantic ocean. Add surface detailing for added texture before p

7

As you know the monster also has these enormous arms which at the ends have a multi fingered hand that is able to bend back. Draw in the arm and massive shaped hand like so. When you do this you will need to add some gnarly nails on each finger.

8

Draw in the first leg next starting with the muscular thigh then finishing it off with the bottom half of the leg. The creature's legs are squat posed and are strong enough to hold the monster's weight. Add a toe nail and then sketch in the detailing

9

You will now draw in the opposite leg the same way you did the first one. This one will be a lot more detailed since it is taking on more weight from bending. Add the foot and clawed toe nails too.

10

Draw the other arm and hand, then sketch in the detailing to the arm and hand. You are basically done with drawing the Cloverfield monster so all you have to do now is erase the mistakes so you can add the finishing touches.

11

Like I said, add detailing to the monster's body, then draw in a short tail that forks at the end.

12

Here is the finished drawing when you have completed the lesson. All that is left to do now is color in the sketch.

Description: A long while ago a movie came out that was wicked cool and suspenseful and that film was called 'CLoverfield'. For those of you who follow Dragoart's Facebook page you may have seen a comment or request for me to make a tut on how to draw the Cloverfield Monster, step by step. I honestly don't know how I missed the idea when the film was released back in 2008. I thought the monster was pretty cool, and reminded me of several monsters that I made when I was just a kid. The Cloverfield monster is a creation developed by artist Neville Page. It's a creepy monster with elongated limbs and a monstrous face. I had fun creating this lesson and I hope all of you do too. Thanks for the idea Jaerlington Paulo Gnb.
