“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." Those were the famous words of the great Martin Luther King Jr that was delivered on the 28th day of August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C. His granddaddy served as pastor from the years 1914-1931. His father continued what his father started up until his death. From childhood Martin Luther went to segregated schools but still found the strength to graduate from high school at the young age of fifteen. Nowadays kids are lucky to graduate at seventeen, neva mind fifteen. After graduating high school he went onto getting even more of an education and attended Morehouse College which was an all black institution that both hid grandfather and father attended as well. He received his Bachelors degree and then moved on, to attend Crozer Theological Seminary located in Pennsylvania. While he was at Crozer, he received the position of presidency of an almost all white senior class. Martin Luther than was awarded the B.D. And with that he later went to school at Boston University enrolling in graduate studies. He completed his term and received his doctorate in the year of 1953 and later his degree in 1955. While he was in Boston, he meet a nice young lady named Coretta Scott and married the young woman and had four children with her, two boys and two girls. Martin Luther King eventually became a pastor at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church located in Montgomery Alabama. He was an extremely strong believer in civil rights and that is what he worked on getting for his people or his race. Because of his strong beliefs and leadership, King was made leader of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in 1955. Because of Kings efforts, blacks and whites rode the buses together on December 21, 1956. He continued to work for the people and by the time he was thirty five, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with fifty four thousand, one hundred twenty three dollars that he donated to the civil rights movement. Soon after that Martin Luther King Jr was shot to death while coming out of his hotel room that had a balcony. He died April 24, 1968, it was a sad day for all who believed in peace and unity, and who also believed that Martin Luther King Jr's dream almost came true.
