How to Draw Anime Faces in Pencil

Start off with a clean line drawing of the face. Use a hard pencil for rough sketching and a medium pencil for bold lines. Any paper will work for this drawing (watercolor paper was used here, though). [1] Sketch in a circle then add guidelines for

Use a soft pencil (2B or 4B) to roughly shade in the face and eyes then use a blending stump to smooth out the rough shading. Try to make the shading and even as possible.

Finish up the drawing by using kneaded/sharpened eraser to add highlights and clean up the shading. Lightly dab over the skin with a kneaded eraser to make it lighter then use a blending stump to smooth out the shading. Use 2B, HB or F pencils to red

Use an HB or 2B pencil to roughly shade in the drawing, then use a blending stump or paper towel to smooth out the shading as much as possible. How smooth the shading turns out depends on how smooth the paper is.

Use a kneaded eraser to add in the main highlights on the forehead, cheeks, nose, mouth and eyes. Use a 2B pencil to add the darkest shading an 2H/4H pencils to define the outlines. Use F or HB pencils on the outlines if you would like them to be mor

Finish up the drawing by cleaning up and adding to the background. Powdered graphite can be blended into the background to add a bit more variety.
