In this next step you will start sketching out the feathered wings as shown to you here. Next sketch out the crown feathers on the phoenix's head that are sloped back. The next thing to get started on is the sketching of the eye and beak.

Now that you have two steps dawn out, it is now time to start sketching out some more of the wings and feathered crown in step three. You will start by sketching out the small ripples of detailing feathers on the wings closest to the phoenix's body.

Begin sketching in some more feather detailing and definition to the right wing on the edges. Once you have done that you can sketch out the remainder of the phoenix's beak and color inside of the mouth. Sketch out frilled feathers on the right side

Description: Birds of fire are one of the most beautiful of all fantasy animals. They have been brushed on the pages of fantasy books, movie screens and even comic books. The last good tutorial I did on a phoenix was a while ago, last year to be exact. I thought it was time to do an up to date version of this bird because it is widely loved by many fantasy art fans and artists. So for my next lesson I will be showing you "how to draw a phoenix bird of flames", step by step. If you look at the drawing closely there are fine details and definition on places like his beak, around his eyes, on the clawed feet, and on the phoenix’s wings. I incorporated tribal designs within the body of the phoenix and for the border of the completed colored picture. This updated version of a phoenix took me an hour to draw and then another two colors to color the bird in. As for the border, that took me another hour because I hand drew the tribal art design in the corners and then I drew the ribbon that says “Bird of Flames”. I always have fun drawing out new versions of the phoenix bird because I always incorporate some style and detail from my older versions of fantasy birds that I drew in the past. As you can see this fire bird has the same blue clawed feet as the diamond chested phoenix I drew last year. I hope you guys have fun learning how to draw a phoenix bird of flames step by step. Whenever you draw fantasy birds you can be as creative as you like. Another great way to practice your skills, is learn how to draw birds from some of the other lessons on the site. This way here, you will have a general idea when it comes to sketching out the birds wings and such. I have to go now but I will be back because I still have an addition three more lessons to submit. I will be in the live draw room at or around six, so to all of you that come and have fun drawing with me, I will meet you there. Bring your request for future tutorials with you when you come in. You can also check out another lesson I have on how to draw a bird. Check it out, if you want to draw an easy type of bird. Peace out people.
