How to Draw Captain Spaulding

1

Start off by drawing the slightly oval shape for the head/face shape.

2

Up next, you will begin sketching out the shape of his head and face using the guide you just made.

3

Finish up the face shape by sketching out his soft looking beard. The beard runs along the bottom lining of his face. Add detailing to the facial hair then detail inside the ear.

4

A clown's face is almost always drawn the same. For Captain Spaulding you will need to draw the eye shapes, nose and mouth outline.

5

Begin using the facial guidelines to draw in the eyes, rest of his nose, then fill inside the mouth with his teeth and tongue. Captain Spaulding has his mouth wide open as if he was saying in a creepy manner "welcome".

6

Sketch in some facial hair above the lip and down the sides of his mouth. When that is done you can draw the thickness or shape for the bottom lip.

7

Now we will add the little things. Start with the very small clown style top hat. This should look more like a tube then anything else.

8

Add the stripes and stars on the hat. As you can see the stars are added to the band around the base of the hat.

9

For the last drawing step all you need to do is draw in the shoulders, shirt and large clown style bow tie. Add the detailing to the tie, then you can erase whatever mistakes you made throughout the lesson.

10

That's it you are all done. Now you can color in this clown that was created by Rob Zombie.

Description: For those of you who are Rob Zombie fans whether it be of his films or music, this lesson is for those of you that love him either way. Today I will fill a request and show you guy "how to draw Captain Spaulding", step by step. Now Captain Spaulding happens to be a character in two of Rob Zombie's films; House of 1000 Corpses, and in The Devil's Rejects. Even though he was a clown character, he had two different personalities in each film. In House of 1000 Corpses, Captain Spaulding was a vulgar, gritty dirty old man, and in The Devil's Rejects, he had a more significant role, but he only had the clown make-up on through half of the film. To me he is a creepy figure even if Rob Zombie wanted to base him on character from a Marx Brothers play. Anyways, have fun with drawing Captain Spaulding folks, I shall return so keep your eyes peeled.
