How to Draw a Dead President, George Washington

1

Begin by slowly sketching out the bone structure for the skeletal face for George Washington as you see him here. The mouth area which is also the upper jaw should also be defined.

2

Here you will carefully draw out the eye sockets and when you do this be sure to add the definition around the outer parts of the eye. Detail the cheek bones and temple like so.

3

Up next, work on getting the nose hole drawn in like so. When you are done with that sketch in the shapes for each tooth on the top and bottom row of the mouth. This will later lead to formation of the jaw structure.

4

Here you will now draw the jaw structure and when you do this be sure that there is shading added. Define the jaw as well, then proceed to step five.

5

Let's draw in Washington's hairstyle on top of his skeletal head. Notice how the hair curls or has a wavy pattern. Sketch in the definition and detailing then move to step six.

6

Add definition to Washington's hairstyle to make it look eccentric and traditional. When you are done you can proceed to step seven.

7

Up next, simply draw the neck shape, then move to step eight.

8

You actually drew the collar for his shirt or blouse that he wears under his jacket. Add some shading until you have a detailed collar like you see here.

9

Now you can draw the shoulders, torso and back. Add the lining for the jacket opening, then when you are done you can tackle step ten.

10

Here it is, your last drawing step. All you have to do is carefully add color to the collar or flap of the jacket, then add some shading to the shirt under the coat. Erase those mistakes and you are done.

11

When all is finished the drawing ends up looking like the one you see here. Color everything in and show off your accomplishments.

Description: "The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves". I know the title of this tut may seem a little wrong, but the idea for the title came from one of my favorite movies that stars Lorenz Tate and Christ Tucker called 'Dead Presidents'. I don't know how many of you heard of the film or even watched it, but it's really, really good. It's kind of old but it's still a really good film. Anyways, the dead president that you will be drawing in this tut is actually George Washington. He is one of the most memorable presidents because he is one of the individuals responsible for giving the people of the United States their freedom, but even so they are all being ripped away from us as we speak. The skeletal idea is supposed to represent our dying rights as we still draw breath. I don't know if there will ever be another revolution, but if there is it's going to be a blood bath. This lesson in drawing a dead president means so much more then words can say. Enjoy the concept and maybe you can make something of it.
