Start with a circle and then draw the guidelines and shapes to form a frame for your American patriot. Next draw a bold and brave shape for his torso and then add the limb guidelines for the arms, and legs.

Next draw out the shape his hat and then the shape of his rugged face which includes the back of his thick neck.

You will now add the line border to the top of his hat and then start sketching out his facial features. You will do this by drawing out his eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. Next add a small lump on the back of his neck for his ponytail. This was a co

This is when you start sketching out the jacket that most patriot men wore during those days. Detail his coat collar by drawing a border and then a knotted tie. Start sketching out the bold arm shapes and then the cuffs on the coat. Add the coat lini

You will sketch in the buttons on his vest and then draw a belt and buckle. Next, crinkle up his sleeves and the lower end of his coat. Detail the cuffs and draw the butt of the sword he is holding in his left hand.

Description: I am going to move away from the medieval part of tutorials and move to something better and more up to date. I am going to do a lesson on a person from the civil days. Do you even know what a patriot is? For some time I had mixed ideas what a person called a patriot was so, I had to do some research and I found out what they were. Patriots are also called or known as Americans, Whigs, Revolutionaries, and Rebels. Patriots are the colonists of the British Thirteen United Colonies who fought and went against the British when the American Revolution took place. A few patriots that you may be familiar with are Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Alexander Hamilton and other figures that declared the United States of America in July of 1776. Patriots came from and are a part of many different backgrounds and ethnic status. Most of these men and woman (mainly men) were well educated and they came from wealthy backgrounds. It was the support from ordinary hard working individuals like seamstresses, homemakers, shopkeepers, and farmers, lawyers, and ministers. If it wasn’t for these common people there would have been no such thing of independence in America. There is a movie that stars Mel Gibson called “The Patriot”, it was a very good depiction of how and what a patriot was. It was a very moving movie and I will always remember it and have it on my top twenty lists. I drew out this character to look like a warrior and fighter from the American Revolution. My father really likes the way he came out and as you can see from the colored image, he truly does represent our independence as a country. I would have to say that unfortunately more and more of our freedom is being taken away right before our very eyes. This tutorial will show you how to draw a patriot step by step. All you have to do is follow the steps and read the directions so that your patriot comes out looking like a bold American.
