How to Draw a Pig
Oink, Oink, that is the sound this animal makes, and I think you all know what I’m talking about. Today I am going to teach you guys "how to draw a pig", step by step. Even though I think pigs are one of the ugliest animals around, I still have sympathy and respect for them. The potbelly pig is quite larger than the average farm pig, so larger that and adult can reach the same size as a medium sized dog. The only difference is, they have a dense body structure which makes them capable of weighing as high as 300 pounds. There are little differences that this breed has over other pigs other then their size, the ears are pointed up and they have a straight tail opposed to a short curly tail. Now an interesting fact about the potbelly pig is that, they are the same species as a farm pig and a wild boar, so that means they can totally be crossbred with either or of the two. Although pigs look dumb, they are actually quite smart which makes owning one quite challenging. Actor George Clooney owned a potbelly pig named Max, but unfortunately he died in 2006. When you own one of these animals, you definitely have to proof up your house as you would for a baby or toddler. They learn to get into anything and everything, so if you’re considering to own one of these pigs make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. Males are not neutered are labeled as boars, the sterile ones are called barrows, and the females are always called gilts. This is a fun tutorial that will show you "how to draw a pig". All you need is patience, a sheet of paper, and a pencil to start you on your way. The instructions are simple to follow so learning the technique to draw a pig will be a breeze. STEP 1.
This step is first going to be drawn out with five circles that will make it easy for you to draw the pig. The front one is the head, the one behind it is the neck, then body, then hind leg.
STEP 2.
Now start sketching out the face. Draw the snout of the pigs nose first which looks like the shape of a cup. Sketch the mouth and the pigs actual nose with the nostrils. next sketch the lining for the eye and half the neck. Move toward the front shoulder and draw that out. After you finish that move to the hind leg which is just two simple lines.
STEP 3.
Draw the bottom half of the pigs foot and toes on both sides. Sketch the underbelly as well without forgetting the nipples. Move your way back to the hind leg and finish the sketch off there too. Don't forget the toes and the fatty looking pocket that stretches from the back knee up to the end of the belly.
STEP 4.
In this step you will be working on the front of the potbelly pig. Sketch the snout wrinkles in the nose by draw three curved lines one on top of the other. Sketch out the top of the head using a hair stroke, go half way and make the ear, a basic triangle shape will solve that problem. Finish off the hair stroke about an inch away from the ear. detail the shoulder with some hair, and draw the hind leg set behind the other to finish off this step.
STEP 5.
In this step all you will be doing is detailing the top back of the pig by using a hair stroke, this is going to add the definition to the pig. Follow the same technique to the back and sketch the long straight tail full of hair. Move back up to the face and sketch out the ear, be sure to give the look of seeing the hole inside the ear. Add a couple of strokes of hair to the body and erase all the guidelines and sketching marks made earlier in the first step. When your done with this step move to the next.
