How to Draw Catching Fire

1

Okay guys, are you ready to rock and roll. You will draw out the head, then sketch out the shape of the mockingjay body. You will then draw the long wing line, then sketch out the shape of the neck and add the leg line.

2

Next, sketch out the shape of the mockingjay's head and beak like so, then add that tuft of hair that is pointed. Draw the shape of the neck, then move to step three.

3

Draw the small round shaped eye, then add the line to the beak which separates the two. Add some feather detailing to the neck as well.

4

You will now sketch out the shape of the mockingjay's body which curls in forming a C. The tail is flat looking and layered with feathers. You will also draw the legs and feet like so, then proceed to step five.

5

You will now sketch out the large expanded wing like so, then line the inside with some feathers. You will also draw the bone or arm which is prominent to the wing. Be sure to detail those feathers as well.

6

We are already almost done with this lesson. Draw the other wing, then sketch in the feathery tips along the edge of wing like so. Take your time so the mockingjay comes out perfect.

7

The only thing you have to do here is first erase the guides you drew in step one so you can fill the body with the small feathers.

8

Now just draw the target in the background like so, and be sure to take your time because there is a lot of lining to add as well as other detailing. Color in the symbol when you are done also.

9

When all is said and done your drawing should look like the one you see here. Now you can color in this bird from the cover of Catching Fire. I hope you liked this lesson folks.

Description: I know I already have a lesson on the Mockingjay, but I wanted to do another tutorial on the bird and how it looks on the cover of the Catching Fire novel. Here is "how to draw Catching Fire", step by step. The mockingjay seems to be in the cross-hairs of a target. I'm not sure what it's supposed to represent, but I know it means something. I didn't have time to ask my sister what the symbol means, but I'm sure it's cool. Catching Fire is supposed to be just as, or even more adventurous and full of action. I should have read the books before planing on watching the movie, but I just don't have that kind of time. Besides, the action and story is just too intense to read about, I'd rather watch it on the big screen first and compare it to the book someday later. Anyways, enjoy drawing Catching Fire logo from the Hunger Games series. I will be back because there is two more lessons coming your way.
