How to Draw a Jack in the Box
I love when I combine my own little touches to popular characters or objects that have been around for ages. I was looking through my things a few days ago and found an old jack in the box from when I was seven years old. As I was turning the handle to listen to that old music riddle, the jack pops out of the box. I looked at the springing toy and smiled. That is when it hit me; I should draw a sketch on a jack in the box with added personal touches. The initial rough sketch came out pretty cool and it gave me an idea on what I wanted the drawn out image to look like. The face idea came from the jester that I drew a week ago and the springing body resembles the jack in the box toy that I actually own. In the coloring process I also wanted to add some “Killer Klowns” effects. If you’re wondering what I’m talking about when I say “Killer Klowns”, I’m referring to the eighties horror movie that was about aliens that came to earth and set up a circus to lure kids in. The aliens where dressed up and disguised as a bunch of performing clowns. So, in light of that movie I drew in some green slim that drips from the edges onto the floor. The coloring came out wicked cool, although I do have to say that I could have done a better job at making the image look a bit brighter. Even though the drawing looks difficult, it’s actually quite easy. When I laid out this lesson on how to draw a jack in the box step by step, I wanted to make sure that almost everyone was able to tackle this sketch with little or no problems. The best part about this tutorial; you can get creative and add your own personal touches to make your jack in the box to your liking. Every kid at some point in their lives owned a jack in the box toy. The way that kids look when the handle turns to play the riddling music and out jumps a surprise, is absolutely priceless. I hope you all like this lesson; I took some quality time with it to make it appealing for all audiences. STEP 1.
Okay as you can see this first step is going to be pretty easy. All you have to do is draw out the shape of a box and then draw a curled like line coming from the box shape. Next, draw an egg shape for the head of the jack and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw out the floor lines.
STEP 2.
Now that the guidelines are drawn out you will start sketching in the lines for the head or hat, and then the long line for the chin. You will then draw out the lining for the springing body. As you can see that is all you have to do for step two! Easy right?
STEP 3.
Wow, you have been doing a great so far and look what you will end up with once you are done with this step. What I want you to work on next is, the rest of the lining for the face which includes the hat lines on the forehead and then the long shape of the chin. You will then draw out the nose and eye lines. Add the bells at the ends of the hat and then draw out the star burst looking ring around the neck which is the collar. Draw the rest of the spring body and then add the lines that go across.
STEP 4.
How cool is this jack in the box coming so far? Well it is going to look even better with future steps. What I want you to draw out next is the arched eyebrows and then the eyes pupils and all. Next draw out the devilish smile which shows the big teeth and I also want you to draw out an outline for the lips as you see them here. Next add the dripping slim on his box. Remember, you can start drawing in your own personal touches at any time so don't forget to be creative.
STEP 5.
This is your last step and all you have to do is first start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up the drawing. Next draw out the rest of the oozing slim that is spread out on the floor. Once you have done this you can move to the final step to see what your drawing should look like.
STEP 6.
Tada! You have now finished this lesson on how to draw a jack in the box step by step. All you have to do now is color in this scary looking toy based creation and you have just learned something new.Post a comment
