Okay guys I figured that I might as well do a tutorial on a very creepy looking canine that is part of the Creepypasta wiki. I don't know much about this dog, but I do know that there is a very interesting tale as to how this pooch came into existence as an internet sensation. Today I will show you "how to draw Smile Dog", step by step. As you can see the look of the dog is definitely hellish. The mane that covers the head is weird in itself, but also the creepy smile. I had fun with drawing Smile Dog because even though it is a bit disturbing, I find that it looks like a dog from hell. If you are familiar with Smile Dog I bet you will enjoy this tutorial. Adios mi amigos and enjoy.

How to Draw Smile Dog

how to draw smile dog step 1

STEP 1.

First, begin with the essential guidelines as a building block to support the main frame of the body shape. Without the guides, you will have nothing to base your formation on. Draw these guidelines lightly and try to use a small amount of pressure with your pencil to reduce indents in your paper (which look terrible once shaded over).

STEP 2.

Then, let's sketch the head shape for Smile Dog, keeping in mind that his head and jaw must be larger than the rest of his body to add a creepy contrast to the character. Take your time, and try to keep within the guidelines.

STEP 3.

Next, draw the facials as well as the grinning teeth. Use thin lines for details such as these to add variety to your drawing.

STEP 4.

Let's work on the hair and the ears which add even more creepiness to this Creepypasta character. Try to draw the hair in long fluent strands which creates an effect of 'grime' and 'darkness' to him. Don't forget the base of the neck so we can proceed onto drawing the chest and forelegs.

STEP 5.

Next, we'll move onto sketching the forelegs and the paws. I drew these paws similar to a lion's to add a bulky boldness to Smile Dog. Remember to use thin lines for definition details.

STEP 6.

We're almost there! Following within the guidelines, draw the rib /stomach shape as well as the back leg. Try to keep the distance between the back leg and forelegs proportion and diagonal to each other so it appears as if he's in a stance.

STEP 7.

Lastly, draw the rest of the back leg and the rib indention as well as the definition of leg muscle. Sketch the scruffy tail as well.

STEP 8.

Before you go ahead and ink your drawing, you should review your sketch to make sure everything is normal and similar to what you see here. If not, retry or tweak your drawing. I prefer using a varied set of Micron pens to get the hang of learning 'line weights'. If you cannot afford Microns, get a black marker or ballpoint pen to ink your drawing out. I've seen remarkable artists ink art with just super cheap and primitive drawing tools. I hope you guys enjoyed this! Thanks for the requests and don't forget to comment. I'm always reading them!
