Velociraptor is a prehistoric reptile that lived over 80 million years ago, right around the later part of the Cretaceous Period. They were one of the fastest and one of the ferocious dinosaurs around. Even though they lived millions of years ago, the Velociraptor still was believed to be one of the smartest reptile species. They used coordination and cooperation with the other raptors in the pack to take down their prey. The word Velociraptor actually means “swift thief”. The prehistoric creature gained more popularity in the movie Jurassic Park. A lot of information about the velociraptor is talked about in this flick which gives you a very vivid mental picture on how brutal this beast really was. Almost every dinosaur has a tool on their body that assists them for their hunting needs, in the raptors case not only were they fast and strategic, but they also possessed a long hook shape claw on each hind foot that is used to rip apart their prey. Out of all the dinosaurs that existed, the velociraptor is one of my all time favorites to draw. Though growing up as a kid there wasn’t many dinosaur cartoons to choose from, I often read how cavemen had drawings of them in their small living holes. It kinda makes you think if dinosaurs shared the same world with the cavemen or is it just an assumption made by man. Speaking of man, did you know that the raptor was actually only up to the knee of man, and that they had feathers all over them? They kinda looked like over sized mean looking chickens. I am going to teach you how to draw a velociraptor with 9 easy steps. The tutorial is simple enough to follow, which will make it easier to learn to draw other dinosaurs. Well that’s all I have to say about this prehistoric animal, it’s back to the drawing board for me, until next time fellow artist.
