In 1970, custom pickup trucks were gaining popularity for pulling and mud diving sports. In the late 70’s there were owners that modified their trucks by lifting them to compete in the various sports challenges. The games soon became a competition to hold the “biggest truck title”. The three trucks that gained public attention were Awesome Kong, Bigfoot and Bear Foot. Those trucks held the largest of tires on any truck with a 48 inch diameter. The Dane brothers who owned Awesome Kong began to drive over and crush cars at county fairs, which means that Awesome Kong became the first to crush cars in front of a live audience. Not knowing what Awesome Kong had accomplished, Bob Chandler, the owner of Bigfoot, wanted to test his trucks ability and drove the massive machine over a pair of junk cars. He filmed this footage to use as a marketing campaign for his four wheel drive performance shop. To make a long story short over time these trucks were modified some more and became one of the most popular entertainment shows around called Monster Jam. All modified trucks in later years were labeled Monster Trucks, which caused a spark for other truck owners to create their very own Jam vehicles. In this tutorial, I show you with just a few simple steps, how to draw a monster truck that resembles a Bigfoot or Grave Digger. The only complicated thing about drawing one of these massive tanks is having a steady hand to draw the details that these incredible trucks hold. I used a picture of a nameless monster truck as a drawing guide to create this tutorial. I hope you enjoy learning to draw one of these monsters, because really, the instructions are so simple.
