How to Draw Florence Welch, Florence Welch

1

Draw the oval, 2 spatula shape and lines lightly with a No.2 or HB pencil. Make sure you draw it as seen in the picture.

2

Now draw in the bisecting line to balance her facial features and the digit lines for fingers and thumbs.

3

Sketch lightly the crescent red lines for hair line and head. Also draw in the round circles for finger and thumb mass.

4

You can draw in the lines a. top of eyes, b. for bottom of eyes, c. for nose, and d. for mouth.

5

Now draw Florence's eyes with a portion of her bangs.

6

Examine and notice how her nose and mouth appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in her nose and mouth.

7

We are doing things a little different. Starting with the hair, make sure you look closely at how the lines of her hair flow with the guidelines. Take your time. Patience is your best friend because with it, you'll be able to complete your drawing wi

8

Sketch in her chin and cheek area. Try sketching her hair lines near her hands and jacket collar. It doesn't have to be exact.

9

The hand guidelines should help you draw in the shape of the hand. This is one at a time since you need to draw in the glitter. Also, don't forget to do her jacket strap and shoulder.

10

Now draw in the second hand with glitter. And sketch in her hair, as well. If you haven't already, you can now erase your guidelines. The lines you couldn't erase, go ahead and blend them in if you will be shading your drawing.

11

I made this line drawing especially for you if you don't want to do the pencil shading and blending part. Otherwise, let us continue to the pencil drawing part.

I didn't want to skip this. The first picture shows how to hold your pencil for Overhand (great for writing & details) and Underhand (great for shading large areas in wide strokes). You can practice tone shading and take it a step further with the To

Here is how the tools look. I used the 0.7mm 2B mechanical pencil, 9B pencil, tissue, and the blending stump.

14

Best thing you can do when drawing hair is to establish the general shape then work in the main strands of hair by holding your pencil at a 45 degree angle for stroking and coverage. Then, as in the third picture, you can work in more details. But he

Here is the outline done with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil. Look closely and see if your lines look something like this. You can erase if certain areas like the eyes or nose don't line up. Take you kneaded eraser and dab off the shadow outlines or dark

This is the first start with the pastel application. If you do the whole picture in a pencil sketch, this is where you would sketch in small circles or lines to shade the areas. It would take hours upon hours to cover all that area with a pencil. I c

Here I used my blending stump to "draw" in more lines, add more shading to her hair, face and jacket. The areas I needed to lighten, I used a kneaded eraser (on her eyes and bangs).

18

I sketched in more shading into her cheek and hair lines and darkened her eye mascara with my 9B and 0.7mm pencils. With the No.2 pencil, I defined her hair and shadows on her hand. I did a lot of smoothing with a blending stump under her eyes and o

I added more shading to her hair face and hands. TIP: for glitter details, I shaved my dark gray pastel for that rectangular shape and applied it multiple times. You can take a chiseled pencil and shave the lead portion to match the glitter shape and

Here I added lots of highlights and fly-away hair from the reference picture. You can use white pastel, white titanium acrylic or watercolor paint for highlights. For fly-away hair, a pencil would suffice after you applied your background. I still da
