How to Draw Jak, Step by Step, Video Game Characters, Pop Culture, FREE Online Drawing Tutorial, Added by Dawn, January 11, 2009, 8:25:41 am

Okay let's get started with this lesson on h ow to draw Jak. The first thing you want to do is draw out the beginning shapes and guidelines to form a frame for your video character. First draw a circle for his head and then add the facial guidelines. Next draw a nice shapely outline for his chest or torso and then from that shape you will draw the limb lines such as the arms, legs and shapes of the hands and feet.

STEP 2.

Okay now that you have drawn out a frame of Jak to work with you can start drawing out his shape so that he is more like himself. Start with the outline of his hairstyle. Then move down a bit to draw out the shape of his face including the jaw and chin. You will then make the lining for his eyes. Once his face and head are worked on you will start drawing out the shape of his arms and gloves as well as some of his fingers. The next thing you will do is draw out the shape of his legs and pants.

STEP 3.

Well you have finally made it to your third drawing step. The first thing you will do is draw out the line on his forehead for his goggles. Next draw out the eye shapes and then the nose. Once that is done you will start to draw out the small circular shape on his chest and then finish off the shaping of his arms and legs as well as his shoes and feet. Finish off the hands by drawing the fingers and then start adding the detailing lines on his pants.

STEP 4.

Your almost done people. Here in this step you will draw out his facial features which include his eyebrows and then his eyeballs. You will need to color or shade in the eyes and then draw out the ears and his hair on the left side of his head just below the left ear. Once that is done you will add the lining for his mouth and then the rest of the strap that crosses over his shoulder as you see here. Finish detailing his clothes as well as his gloves and then finish off the boots.

STEP 5.

Well you have reached your final and last step and what you will do here is add the finishing touches. Sketch in the hair detailing and then the glass shapes of his goggles. Finish off his sly grin and then sketch in the rest of the definition lines on his suit. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one and move to the last step.

STEP 6.

Once your done your Jak character should come out looking like the one you see here. All you have to do now is color him in and you are all set. You have just learned how to draw Jak from Jak and Daxter step by step.

Artist CommentsI hope you all have liked my last tutorial on how to draw Ratchet from Ratchet & Clank step by step. This next lesson is going to be on another character from a very popular video game series. I will show you how to draw Jak from Jak & Daxter step by step. Now Jak is a very cool character and I used to play the early games that he stared in. The Jak & Daxter series was created and developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony. The first game called; ‘Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy’, was released only for the Playstation 2 as well as every other Jak & Daxter game released. I played the first and second of the series and now that I have the Playstation 3, I await the release of the newest of them all. Now the two main characters from the game (Jak & Daxter) come from an unknown planet and although Jak is suppose to be human, he very much looks like an elf of some kind. This is one game that I don’t know too much about because I never really got into the story line. I am only telling you tad bits of what I remember from the game when I use to play. I do know that there are several games from the Jak and Daxter series. After Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II: Renegade in other parts of the world was released next. After the success of the release of part II came a few more to make the game a five part series. Jak III, Jak X: Combat Racing and Daxter finish off the series. The interesting thing is, in the first game Jak didn’t talk at all. It wasn’t until Jak II came out that Naughty Dog decided to have Jak a talkable character. Jak & Daxter is a game that can be compared to Ratchet & Clank and Crash Bandicoot as they are all platform games which mean that you play a character that jumps to and from suspended platforms almost like the Mario game series. This lesson will show you how to draw Jak from Jak & Daxter step by step. He is a very suave and sometimes mischievous character which makes the game series a blast to play. I will be back in a while with more lessons for you all to learn from so stay tuned.
