Despite him being part of the French military he was actually from Italian ancestry. From 1804 to 1815 Napoleon was Emperor of France. He is best known for his ruthless role as a leader in the times of the French Revolutionary war. In 1812 he led the Peninsular War when France invaded Russia. Napoleon was considered a military genius, commander, and above all things a master strategist. Being the Emperor of France is an important title to carry so one has to be great to hold this title for the length of time Napoleon did.
