How to Sketch an Anime Kiss
Let's give another round for Anime! This time it's "How to Sketch an Anime Kiss" loaded with tips! In this tutorial you'll get a chance to draw the handsome Usui Takumi from Kaichou wa Maid Sama again with his love interest, Misaki Ayuzawa! Though she considered him her stalker or perverted alien, he's won her heart. BUT I fell in love with this picture and had to draw it for the anime kiss... completely digitally in mostly my SAI and Adobe Photoshop programs. STEP 1.
Here is a little pre-tip before the actual drawing steps. The guidelines won't have the blue profile face and chin because it obstructs the drawing. Just in case you need a guide for getting those chins in. Here it is. The arrows show how the chins are almost on the same curved line. Hope this helps. Now on with the steps!
STEP 2.
We are taking a shortcut in the guidelines. Draw the two circles with the long lines for the neck, shoulder and Usui's hand. Sketch them with a No. 2 pencil. Remember to do it lightly for easy erasure.
STEP 3.
You might need to click on the picture to see where to draw both their eyebrows, eyes and hair. Give a curve to the spiked hair. The circle guidelines helps you to do that.
STEP 4.
Now draw in their mouths, cheek, jawline, and necks. Watch closely where these relate to the guidelines and draw lightly please.
STEP 5.
Take your time while drawing this picture because in this step you need to pay close attention to how her hair spikes and the empty area for his hand. Remember to draw in her ear.
STEP 6.
Try looking closely to where his hair appears in relation to the guidelines for more accuracy. Don't forget his ear and hair behind it.
STEP 7.
Now draw in his hand holding a lock of her hair and the rest of her spiked hair.
STEP 8.
Draw in the rest of his spiked hair, collar, and shoulder (at the bottom edge, there is the top of his tie).
STEP 9.
Your drawing may look like this or you might have your own version. At this point, you can color in your picture with a medium of your choice.
STEP 10.
Here is the basic color combination of the Usui and Misaki. Following this step are tips on sketching/drawing an anime kiss or any kiss.
STEP 11.
The letter "S" is a great solution on drawing the two lips together in the "S" fashion.
STEP 12.

STEP 14.
Check out this cool peek at different viewpoints of a single kiss. Notice the "S" rule and "upper lip with nose" are in the bottom side profile pictures.
STEP 15.
Without lighting, we have a flat subject. That's what makes Usui & Misaki so interesting, dramatic lighting. The red arrows are direction of light. Blue arrows are the shadows him being turned away from the sun, and is Misaki in his shadow. Here are three common sources of lighting that helps bring out certain effects in a face. DRAMATIC is made by overhead light. This can be in midday sun or strong moonlight. MYSTERIOUS is made when the lighting comes upward or beneath the face like holding a candle or flashlight. You'll see this effect used a lot in graphic or noir novels. CONVENTIONAL is the most popular. It is made at a 45-degree angle light placed to the side, above the subject and slightly toward the foreground.
STEP 16.
Last but not least, I want to show you how great a pencil is. And you can get these same effects with a regular No. 2 pencil. The first picture shows how to hold your pencil for Overhand (great for writing & details) and Underhand (great for shading large areas in wide strokes). Thanks to your tuts, i wanted to watch the 1st episode too. Then i watched the 2nd, 3rd, so on. 
ITS SOO GOOD!!!! I love this episode i was so scared when usui jumped off the roof though

You're a sweetheart and I'm very happy this tut is helpful to you. Guess What? I just watched the first episode of Usui and Misaki. It is hilarious! Kind of has that phizzazz & crazy emotions like "Scott Pilgram versus the World"! I had sooo much fun watching it and he was soooo smooth! Like silk! This anime ought to be a movie. Loved every moment of her conflict.
