How to Draw Castiel, Supernatural, Misha Collins

how to draw castiel, supernatural, misha collins step 1

STEP 1.

To allow for more shading steps, I've cut down the guidelines. Let me know if this works for you. With the No. 2 pencil, start lightly drawing the oval, bisecting line, and crescent lines (for head mass). Then lightly draw lines a. for eyebrows, b. for eyes, c. for nose, d. for mouth, and e. for shoulder placement. Make sure you draw these as seen in the picture.

STEP 2.

Observe where Castiel's features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in his forehead wrinkles, eyebrows, eyes, and bags underneath eyes.

STEP 3.

When you sketch his hair, add those straight lines and curls. Try staying close to the lines that represent the direction of his hair. This will help as you shade it in.

STEP 4.

Now draw in his nose, the shadow, face cheek line, facial hair, and slightly opened mouth.

STEP 5.

Pay attention to the placement of his ears, jawline, chin, and neck relate to the guidelines. Now draw them.

STEP 6.

Sketch in his trench coat, which includes the collar, seams, and button. Don't forget his shirt and part of his suit lapel. If you haven't already, you can erase your guidelines.

STEP 7.

I made this line drawing especially for you if you don't want to do the pencil shading and blending part. Otherwise, let us continue to the pencil drawing part.

STEP 8.

I didn't want to skip this. The first picture shows how to hold your pencil for Overhand (great for writing & details) and Underhand (great for shading large areas in wide strokes). You can practice tone shading and take it a step further with the Tone Exercise.

how to draw castiel, supernatural, misha collins step 9

STEP 9.

Here is how the tools look. I used the 0.7mm 2B mechanical pencil, 9B pencil, tissue, and the blending stump

STEP 10.

Best thing you can do when drawing hair is to establish the general shape then work in the main strands of hair by holding your pencil at a 45 degree angle for stroking and coverage. Then, as in the third picture, you can work in more details. But here's a TIP! Don't draw a straight line for the hairline. Do tiny strokes to represent beginning of hair at its root. Look at real people and see their hairline isn't a straight line. Practice and your picture will look more realistic.

STEP 11.

If you do the whole picture in a pencil sketch, this is where you would sketch in small circles or lines to shade the areas. It would take hours upon hours to cover all that area with a pencil. I chose to shade with pastels. In a few strokes I've got area coverage. Applied medium gray to dark gray to his hair, face and trench coat. Looks like a mess, but that's how a some beginning projects will appear. Keep patience with you and keep applying those layers of whites, grays & blacks. You'll have a great outcome.

STEP 12.

I took my blending stump to "draw" in more lines, add more strokes to his hair. His eyebrows, cheeks, chin, neck and jacket I also smoothed with my blending stump, making these a bit darker. I used a tissue (which is soft) to smooth out his face around his cheek, jaw, nose and under his eyebrows. I needed to whiten areas like the reflective light on the side of his face, highlights on his nose and lips. I did the highlights with my kneaded eraser.

STEP 13.

I darkened in his eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, hair, lips, face shadows, and trench coat details with my 9B graphite pencil and dark gray pastels. Then I blended with my blending stump to give a smooth texture.

how to draw castiel, supernatural, misha collins step 14

STEP 14.

Basically, you can add more highlights with Titanium White Acrylics to the catch lights in his eyes, more hair strands, the side of his face, and on his lip's shine. I also added more accurate hair strands in a light gray. TIP: I lightened this picture (in my photo-editing program with paint brush) to appear more like my original picture and reference. Now Castiel "pops" out!

STEP 15.

Without highlights, your picture would have a flat appearance. Click on this picture to learn how to make your own picture POP out!

But you all have been wonderful and it has been a great pleasure to do this tutorial with you. Please fav, comment, and show your love here. And I will definitely reply back soon or eventually. The only reason why I started watching The Walking Dead is because Dawn had me do a tut on the Daryl character, who looked interesting. Since I have Netflix, I decided to watch one to two episodes. Watched 1st ep, he wasn't in that one, but it caught my interest a little--still wasn't convinced. Check to see what ep he appeared in & watched it (3rd ep). HOOKED, HOOKED, HOOKED! After a while I had to backtrack and watch the 2nd ep. Love all the characters...wonderful drama, conflict in social standards, excellent action...it's amazing! And I hate anyone to get hurt, cut up, etc. My older son watches Game of Thrones. I can't watch Dexter---it involves real people being tortured like "Saw."

Sounds really deep. It's strange, but I don't like the violence focused on real (looking) people like supernatural, cop shows, doctor shows. I really think sometimes Vampire Diaries shows too much violence for my stomach (I really close my eyes in some scenes). This is really weird... I can watch The Walking Dead because those zombies really look strange, funny sometimes, and it feels more like fiction than realism (just the zombies). But I had to close my eyes a few times watching that show. I just hate butcher-knife, chainsaw, body dismemberment torture type of horror entertainment. B)

Well, cue the Maguiver music! I cut out Templates of Batman (head with ears , body, head and arms)out of black felt. I use two per ody part, Example, You need two head shapes. THen I sew them together and turn it inside out so it hides the stiching. Then i fill it with stuffing. Simple really. Its really fun!

aww only first season!? my friends don't want to watch it, because there so scared of it lol but it doesn't get that scary after 1 season. i cried right before Sam when to speechless, because Lucifer took over his body and was going to kill Dean but then he had a flash back of all the good times he had with his brother, but after it show that part where they hugged at the end of the flash back! i was crying like a baby on the ground! i'm such a sucker for bromance and love for his boy! and how much they care for each other! i cried alot more but that was one of the best parts! oh supernatural i love you too much! it alright! not every one likes that kind of stuff, i didn't much care for it at first~! boogie boogie boogie you like vampire diaries right? i watch alittle of it. my sister loves that show~! omgomg boogie sorry long comment, but just shows i like to talk to you :)
