How to Draw a Carousel

1

The first thing that we will do is draw the top or roof for the carousel. This is a wide triangular shaped top that is flat on the sides, and has a ball at the top of the pitch.

2

Now that the top of the carousel is drawn out, you can add the pretty details. Start with the stripes, then draw the line going across the lower mid section of the top. Add some small circles for the bright light bulbs that shine at night.

3

Let's get started with the carousel horses. Start by making a simple small horse from side view with only two legs at this point. Draw the chunks of mane on the back of the horse's neck, then draw in the ears.

4

Draw in the horse's tail like so, then draw the saddle, the rest of the mane, and the eye and nose. Of course you have to add the hooves.

5

The first horse is done which means you only have one more to tackle. You will go about this step the same way you did the other when you sketched out the outline of the carousel horse.

6

Again, draw in the tail, and saddle, then draw the mane. As you can see the mane is in a different style to keep the horses looking different for variety.

7

Here you will draw the beam like bars that attach the roof to the spinning base. The side columns are thinner then the center.

8

You will now draw in the base then add thickness to the base as well. This is what makes the ride go round and round.

9

Lastly, draw in some last minute details which is the spiral lines going down the center and side posts, and the pattern that is on the floor. Don't forget the larger bulbs on the side of the carousel too. Erase the mistakes, then you're done.

10

Here is what the drawing looks like when you have completed this carousel. Add some bright colors to call it finished.
